Chapter 8: Checkout

The newly acquainted pair continue to make small talk and tell funny stories.

The blue rimmed clock on the wall read 10:26am, ticking down the hours so nobody lost track of time.

Of course, these two were engrossed in deep conversation, luckily Ochako's weaved charity bracelet slipped off her small wrist and as she bent down to pick it up, she caught sight of the clock.

"Wow! It's almost ten thirty," She mused, sitting back in her chair from the past half an hour.

"I didn't know time could fly that fast," Izuku replies, incredulously. He then started blushing on how stupid his comment sounded. Well, to him anyway.

She seems to notice his sudden embarrassment," Don't be embarrassed," She laughs," It was cute"

But what she doesn't notice is how flustered her comment made him.

Ochako had finished her mochi a good while ago and had also finished  the rest of Izuku's for him when he couldn't.

"That was so good!" the cheery brunette exclaimed, changing the subject and punching her fist in the air. Izuku smiles at her enthusiasm.

"I wish I could make mochi that good," He says.

"Me too," She frowns, dropping the happy atmosphere immediately," I can barely make a cake. Last time I tried I used salt instead of sugar"

His eyes widened," Really?" Is all he managed to choke out before laughing. And, their conversation was lively again.

"Hey, it's not funny," She says as she puffs out her cheeks.

His laughter dies a little bit," Well, I guess it is an... easy mistake," He chuckles, calm again.

"Yeah. But, the taste-"

"Don't tell me you..." He starts, and she looks down and contains a laugh," You tasted the batter?" He chokes, almost falling out of his chair.

"Haha very funny," She deadpans, trying to compress her budding smile.

"How did the cake turn out?" He snickers enjoying her reactions.

She looks him straight in the eye and says," Dry"

~~~~~
"Are you done," Ochako asks, folding her arms against her chest.
Izuku finishes wiping the tiny tears from his eyes and takes three big breaths to calm down.
"Yeah I think that's it," He grins.
"Good because I have a proposal for you," She smiles, he quirks an eyebrow.
"Since we both suck at desserts, how 'bout we both buy that cook book and try to bake something together! Without failing, that is," She smirks, satisfied with her question.
Izuku shrugs," Sure. Then I can blame you if it goes wrong"
She lightly punches his arm across the small table and he fakes extreme pain," Ah! Why would you assault me like that, Ochako," He exaggerates.
"Shut up," She mutters," Anyway, let's pay for the mochi and coffee. Then we can get the book"
She reaches for her back pocket for some cash before being quickly stopped by Izuku.
"Stop right there," He puts a hand up and she gives him a 'why-the-hell-are-you-stopping-me' look," I already paid," He says simply and casually.
Her jaw drops to the table," Wha- w- w- That's not fair! At least let me pay you back," She insists, clearly angry he paid instead of her paying half.
