Chapter 9: Gym Privileges
Izuku had picked out the perfect book for any budding baker's needs. It had a section devoted to any and all types of each thing. For example, seventeen different brownie recipes!
It was of the cookbook series 'Food is an Art' and each page spared no detail, ranging from the history of the sweet to what brand of mixer to use for the best results.
He could have just learned the methods from the internet but it's nice to have everything in a book instead of squinting at a tiny screen. Especially when things could get messy and your new phone's cleanliness is on the line.
The freckled teenager purchased the book and the cashier gave him a smile, a 'thank you for shopping with us' and a decent but light white fabric tote with the bookstore's logo in gold print for his purchase.
He smiled in return and left the store, a tiny spring in his step, visible to anyone who looked hard enough. He was happy. That overpowered his bones that ached a little from walking around town for so long, added to his previous full body workout at the training base.
Izuku didn't even know what to call it.
On the outside it looked like a run-down warehouse with little to no TLC but on the inside it was like a middle class gym with zero customers.
Is it possible for a building to be bipolar?
That was surprisingly the front of his concern considering his mom's tragic incident hours ago. It was pretty surreal to think that his mom was almost murdered and since he wasn't allowed to see her, he went to a random store, met a random girl and got her random number.
Now, it was just a decision of what to do next.
In the morning, he also met with a strange crime mafia boss person who wore a freaking skull mask with tubes in it just so he could breathe without sounding like a jacked-up car.
To think 24 hours ago, he hugged that same random man because he saved him from his psychotic blond bully who spewed explosions from his hands for sport with clear anger issues to the point where he could argue with a cactus for pricking him.
Looking back on that event, he thought hugging a villain boss called All for freaking One in a dark back alley in the dark streets of Tokyo was pretty damn stupid and certainly not very sanitary.
He noted this in the back of his mind if that situation would ever happen again because if his life wasn't like a depressing teenager soap opera with no soap, he would probably be in the back of a van with a strange headache and unsteady driver.
Katsuki had known him longer than the chestnut haired beauty at the coffee shop and yet she was his first real friend. While he was still happy about his new relationship, his old 'friendship' with the one and only Kacchan was very complicated.
It bothered him.
He kicked a rock out of his path and swung the bag in his hand as he approached his neighborhood's familiar grass.
He used to be great friends with the explosive blonde but things changed and instead of growing together, they grew apart and the childhood memory of childish Kacchan with a sense of adventure was fading. When Izuku was diagnosed with no quirk, Katsuki decided he wasn't worth his time.
That he was a weak little Deku that's only place was serving him.
Izuku stopped in front of his door.
He had been so stupid. How could he follow Katsuki around like a lost deer when the blonde wanted nothing more for him to go away.
But no matter how he painted it, Katsuki had a bad attitude and a worse sense of humour. He would make a terrible hero.
