After my visit with my dad, I decided to take control. The only way I was getting out of here was if I took medication. Julian explained how they would monitor it then when everything was fine I could leave.
It had been six weeks since I arrived here. Four of those had been spent dealing with my issues and learning what was wrong with me. The other two were spent regulating my medication.
Once everything was on track, Julian explained to me what I needed to do. I also had to continue with my therapy sessions.
I finished packing my bag when my dad arrived to pick me up.
"Ready?" He said to me.
"As I will ever be," I sighed.
"Kaden, it will be okay. You have us and everyone else standing behind you, " he assured me.
I knew he meant it. It was just hard to accept it. I picked up my bag and followed him out of the hospital, to the car. Opening the back door, I tossed my bag inside then closed it. We both climbed into the front seat and he pulled out of the parking spot.
Today was the first day of taking control and my life back. I know most people wouldn't think this was a big deal but for six weeks, I was stuck in a place I didn't want to be in.
The only few positives were the fact I had some people visit me and they also made sure I didn't fall behind in school. Julian would bring me my assignments and return them when I finished. Having family in the school system helped.
We pulled into the driveway and I go out of the car, grabbing my bag and making my way inside. Mom greeted me with a hug and I hugged her back. I did miss her.
"You lost weight, " she said a bit worry.
"The food was terrible and the fact I didn't have much of appetite didn't help."
"Good thing your grandpas are coming over, " she smiled as I looked at her and my dad. That meant one thing. Grandpa Cole was bringing cake.
I finally went up to my room and got settled. Looking around, this wasn't me. The trophies, the letterman jacket, the sports. None of it was me anymore.
I searched for something until I found a bag and started shoving everything into it. Once I finished, I opened my closet door, tossing the bag inside. As far as I was concerned, that wasn't my life anymore. I just wanted peace.
I also decided to go outside and get fresh air. When you've been cooped up for six weeks, fresh air is a welcoming relief. I came downstairs and walked through the kitchen to our back. I just wanted to enjoy it, without my parents worrying.
"I see they sprung you, " I heard a voice say as I turned to see Meadow looking over her fence. I might have forgotten to mention we were neighbors. Of course, because of what I had become, I tried to keep it secret from others, especially Roxy.
I strolled over towards her, "yeah, they thought it would be a good idea to unleash me into the big bad world." A smile grew upon my lips as she smiled back at me.
"It's good to see you Kaden and to see you smiling, " she mentioned.
"Yeah, I haven't had a lot to smile about but now I do, " I replied as I kept smiling at her.
"You should smile more often, it suits you, " she said sincerely.
"I hope that someone will be able to help me keep that smile," I replied flirtatiously to her.
"You never know," she answered in an equally flirtatious manner.
We stood there for a minute as I was trying to figure out a way to spend time with her. I know she didn't have to because I wasn't in the hospital any longer. I really hope she would. She was one of the main reasons I was able to survive in there.
"Meadow?"
"Yeah?"
"My grandpas are coming over and bringing cake. Would you like to join me for a piece," I asked, hoping she would say yes.
I know she would have every reason to turn me down. I mean, I had been mean to her about her size but honestly, I regretted that.
"I don't really like cake or most junk food for that matter, " she answered me.
"Oh."
I shouldn't have assumed. Now I felt terrible. Just because someone is a little bit heavier, doesn't mean anything. I prefer the way she looked, but I can understand why she wouldn't want to come over.
"Kaden?"
"Yeah?"
"I could come over and hang out with you. You don't need to bribe me with cake, " she said a smile grew upon her lips.
"You would?!" My eyes widened when I realized how dorky I sounded. So much for playing it cool. "Um, yeah, cool." I tried to sound cool and here I was failing miserably at it.
"I'll stop by after dinner and we can hang."
"Cool, " I nodded like the lovesick dweeb I truly was. I watched as she strutted back into her house, just casually checking her out.
"Cade, what are you doing, " mom asked dad as he spied on me.
"Watching our boy fall all over himself because of Meadow, " he smirked.
"Personally, I like her. I hope they get together. She's way better than that twit he was dating, " she remarked about my poor dating choices.
"So do I. Meadow is a sweet girl. I also know for a fact, Kaden has always had a crush on her, " he said looking at her.
"You didn't?"
"Is it my fault, my best friend was his doctor? No, " he shrugged as she shook her head and rolling her eyes.
Dad just chuckled as they heard me yell, "yes!" Then they watched me do a funny victory dance as I fell over. What can I say? I was really happy.
Get ready because the grandpas are coming in the next chapter.
