Park Jin Ha pov: [Jin Ha means summer pearl]

"And then he suddenly looked at me with a glare! It was as if he wanted to strangle me in his anger! I was so scared!" Hae Yuu, one of my very few close friends, went on as she sat opposite to me.

"That does sound scary! Then what did you do??" Nam Ri, another one of my good friends, asked eagerly while looking at Hae Yuu. She loved hearing the gossip that went around class though, thankfully, wasn't really the type to spread it or start rumors.

"I ran away, obviously. The guy was persistent though and followed me, scaring the heck out of me. I was so glad when I made it to the main street – there were so many people around so he could neither follow me nor do anything that looked suspicious." Hae Yuu said with a deep sigh.

I sighed too, more so out of boredom, as I looked out of the window next to which I sat. I had my chin resting in one hand as I looked out into the distance, barely listening to the rather dramatic story Hae Yuu was narrating. It was lunch break, but only ten minutes remained till the bell rang, and Hae Yuu and Nam Ri were yet to finish their lunch. The chatter in the cafeteria had mellowed down as the number of students had decreased – some had gone off to play in the remaining time while others were returning to their respective classrooms.

"Yah Jin Ha, are you listening?" Hae Yuu called out and I turned my head to meet her eyes that held mild annoyance.

[A/n: 'Yah' in Korean is similar to saying 'Hey' or 'Oi']

"Of course I'm listening." I said though she didn't seem to believe me.

"Oh? Then what have we been talking about all this time?" She asked smartly.

"You were talking about some guy named Cha Geun who wanted you to date him but you refused. So he got angry and started following you and pestering you, and glared at you when you resisted but you were saved when you made it to the main street where he couldn't try doing anything weird." I said, leaving her and Nam Ri surprised.

"O-oh....yeah, that's what we were talking about....but seriously, Jin Ha, how is it that you are able to listen to the tiniest of details despite not concentrating properly on the conversation?? You must be gifted with heightened senses or something." Hae Yuu muttered.

"I guess so." I responded with a shrug but gave a smug smile at the thought of her not knowing much about me despite being my best friend. Well, she couldn't be blamed though, because there was one thing that had to be kept secret from her and everyone around me, including my parents, no matter what.

"Look at you acting all proud about it." Nam Ri teased and we broke out into chuckles. "Anyway, let's head back to class now – lunch break is almost over."

Just as we got up, my cell phone vibrated twice before falling silent. I inhaled deeply, well aware that it was the usual signal, and then sighed at the thought of having to miss out on school again. I shook my head though and held the fabric above my stomach while making an expression of discomfort.

"Why don't you guys go ahead....my stomach isn't feeling all that good so I'm going to the infirmary." I said, earning looks of pity from my two friends.

"Jeez, Jin Ha....you really do have a sensitive stomach. It must be a pain to have hereditary gastritis." Hae Yuu commented and I resisted from laughing at how silly that actually sounded. Sure, I had made it up as a cover for when I had to miss out on classes but it sounded funny nonetheless.
