The Art of Letting Go
It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I had seen in my life. Maybe the way the sun rays reflected on the water had something to do with it. The sky had a mixture of colors, from orange to purple. They were contrasting with one another, making it easy to see where the night was starting.
The bay was relatively empty if you compared it to other normal days but today was not one. It was a decisive day, one that would bring a great discovery to my life. Something I had ignored through all my existence was going to be revealed to me. I was thinking about that when I saw him.
The stunning smile on his face paralyzed my heart. His brown hair flew in the direction of the wind. His tanned skin glowed with the magic of the moment and I imagined how his expressive brown eyes must have been sparkling. I looked directly at him and his smiled brightened even more. Our distance was aproximately twenty meters and I saw how he picked up his guitar and started singing a song. I wish I heard which song he wa singing. But it was then when I understood the reality of the situation.
He turned around and sang to the quiet girl that was sitting alone on the bench. Her dark brown hair was dancing with the wind. Her, the one who was looking obsessively at the distance, to the horizon. It was a sweet declaration of love.
I saw how she turned around. She must have been surprised that he declared to her. Her mouth opened and something told me that tears, happy tears, were forming in her eyes. She wasn't expecting that. She would have never expected to recieve the perfect guy in a romanticaly magic moment.
They exist. Both things exist. I thought still looking at a distance. I had discovered it and it came to me with company. Love did exist, the love between two souls was real. But the pain was real too. The pain of seeing your soulmate in love with another.
And, although painful, it was the best moment of my existence.
