I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS FROM THAT SERIES BECAUSE THEY ALL BELONG TO JOANNE KATHLEEN (J.K.) ROWLING!
Chapter Two
Hermione walked up the stairs and to her apartment. She had apparated to the front doors, but she usually walked up the stairs. She once made the mistake of apparating to her front door and a couple of her neighbours saw her. The ministry had a little fit.
It was eight-thirty. She was now done work and was ready to relax at her home after the busy day that she worked. She was, like usually, the last person to leave the store, so she locked up and made her way to her apartment, her home since the war.
Hermione then walked down the hall and she took out her key out of her pocket (she wasn’t going to make the mistake of doing magic in this hallway again). She went to her door only to see that there was a note on it. Hermione gently took it and opened the blue envelope, taking the tape off of her door that had kept the letter on it in peace.
She opened it to see the familiar messy writing of Ron Weasley, her boyfriend. She smiled and opened the letter and read:
Dear Hermione:
I know that I was supposed to come over tonight, but I have to take an extra shift here tonight and I won’t be leaving until midnight. I am sorry. Tomorrow is still my day off though, so after work, I will be waiting at the door for you.
Again, I am sorry about tonight. I didn’t have a choice. Ben got the flu and I was the only one who could cover for him.
I love you, Hermione. I will see you tomorrow.
Ron
Hermione sighed. Though she had forgot about her and Ron’s plans about him coming over, she suddenly felt her breath be taken from her.
She hadn’t seen any of her friends in ages. Harry was off for the summer training to me an Auror and he wouldn’t be back until a couple of weeks. Ron was at his job at Gringotts with Bill. Luna and Ginny worked with Mr. Lovegood and his magazine while Neville was training to become a Herbology teacher at Hogwarts. Ron, Harry, and Neville live together in the old Black house while Ginny and Luna still lived with their parents. Multiple times Harry had offer her to live with him and the others, but she found it awkward to be the only girl in a house full of boys. Even if one was her boyfriend and the other two were very close friends.
Hermione sighed and opened her door, the envelope still in her hand. She turned her light on and she shut the door behind her as she stepped inside. She quickly locked it and sighed.
Her apartment was small. It only had a kitchen that connected to a sitting room, a small bathroom, and a medium sized bedroom. Everything except for the bathroom was a hard, wood flooring that was also cold on winter nights. In the bathroom, the tiles were even colder. The walls were all an easy shade of pink that was both cosy and comforting. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough for her. She had enough room for everything and considering that she didn’t own a lot of things, she wasn’t cramped.
But she did feel lonely on most nights. With Crookshanks dead a couple of weeks before the war, Hermione had always wanted to get another cat, but the apartment had a strict no pets rule. The had bought an owl, but it was only for mail so she let it live in a tree beside the apartment. She lived on the third floor of the five story apartment, so the owl could easily reach her for food and water.
It was just her most nights. A couple of times her friends would come over, but they didn’t stay for long, and no one had been over for almost a month. Except for Ron. He tried to be with her every night that he could, but she hadn’t seen him face to face for a week. Some nights Ron would spend the night, but Hermione had work early the next morning, so they didn’t have time to do anything.
