I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS FROM THAT SERIES BECAUSE THEY ALL BELONG TO JOANNE KATHLEEN (J.K.) ROWLING!
Chapter Three
Hermione and Sophie looked at each other. The shop had been empty for three hours. When they came, there was no line up to get inside like for the past couple of days. The shop was quiet and untouched. Sophie and Hermione were sitting on the couches that they had in the store so that if needed, people could sit down and read the book.
“It feels so weird not to be helping someone and being yelled at.” Sophie commented.
Hermione smiled.
“I know what you mean. I don’t think that it has ever been this quiet,” Hermione added.
“I wonder how the Ministry is doing. Everybody must be there,” Sophie said.
“Obviously. There was controversy about Malfoy’s case ever since he was arrested.”
“I know. I wish I was there.”
Hermione frowned and looked at her co-worker. Sophie was so sweet and nice to everybody. She was the person who would help random strangers and who would always donate her money to organizations that she liked. She was a person who was a little passive, but mostly assertive. She only got angry when there was something that really made her angry. Also, she was persuasive. When she said something in an argument or statement, she knew exactly what to say and how to say it.
“Really?” Hermione asked.
Sophie looked at her as if she was insane.
“Yes. Hermione, that man deserve life in prison! He murdered innocent people. He tortured and killed little kids because they weren’t ‘good blood’, or even good enough. He deserves to rot!” Sophie said.
“Well...I mean, you heard what he said. He only did those things because he feared for his family,” Hermione said.
“Hermione! You can’t honestly think that’s the truth. He killed people with no remorse. He’s playing up so that he doesn’t have life in Azkaban! It’s all fake, Hermione! If he really did fear for his wife and children then why didn’t he tell them to move away from Britain and hide? Face it, Hermione, he’s a murderer and I will bet you money that the Ministry will change it’s vote,” Sophie said.
“Really? I honestly don’t think that they can, Sophie.” Hermione said.
“Ninety-five percent of the world are now pissed at the Ministry. I highly doubt that they will be able to calm people down. No one will like the Minister and he will be forced out of his work, probably mobbed! If he wants to keep his job, he will probably have to vote in the public’s favour.”
“He can’t though. The decision is made. If he does then he will have to back up on everything in the case and basically re-do everything!”
“Why are we even talking about this?! You testified at one of his trials! You told your story about how you, Harry, Ron, Luna, and all of those people were being held in his basement! He let Bellatrix torture you! He would’ve let Greyback do whatever he wanted to do with you!”
It was the truth. Hermione had went to go against Lucius in one of the many trials that were held. There were so long that the witness accounts had to be placed in different days. There was no escaping it. Harry, Ron, Luna, Semus, and Ollivander also gave their story about being held and tortured in the Malfoy Manor basement. She didn’t go into details and her story time was only about ten minutes long at most. It was five minutes to tell her story and five minutes of people asking her questions about her tale. Then that was it.
