I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS FROM THAT SERIES BECAUSE THEY ALL BELONG TO JOANNE KATHLEEN (J.K.) ROWLING!
Chapter Six
Hermione looked up from her couch. She put her television on mute as she then got to her feet and walked to her door. She looked through the spy hole to see a warped looking Ron. He was looking at his shoes. He was wearing normal blue jeans and a white long sleeved shirt.
It was dark now, almost eight o’clock. Hermione had her dinner by herself and she was now relaxing. She hadn’t heard from Sophie so she assumed that she didn’t know that Malfoy was their new co-worker.
Malfoy wasn’t that hard to work with. After both of them were done (Hermione before Draco), she sat at the desk and looked through the records and beside the name of the book, she wrote the number of books that she would need to order. When Draco came down the staircase, he walked over to Hermione with the papers and she quickly told him what he had to do. Draco sat in a chair on the other side of the room and did what Hermione was doing. The job too nearly two hours and they both still had an hour and a half left of the work day.
So, Hermione spent the rest of the time reading at the desk after Draco took the papers up to Madame Glirsh. It was a quiet day, especially since no one came in. Draco also started to read a book. When the work day was finally over, Madame Glirsh dismissed them and Draco apparated out of the store while Hermione began he walk home.
When she got home, she hoped to see a letter on her door like the day before, but there wasn’t anything.
She was worried about Ron not coming. She loved Ron, but she needed to know that he was going to be there for her. He needed to hold her and kiss her and thought she knew it was selfish of her to make him come here away from the protest, but she needed love from him as well.
Hermione opened the door to see a very confused Ron.
“Hey! Hagrid found me a couple of minutes ago and told me that you really wanted to talk to me.” Ron said.
Hermione was glad that Hagrid didn’t tell Ron everything that she said. She would’ve been a little embarrassed.
“Yeah. I’ve just missed you, Ron and I also wanted to talk to you.” Hermione answered.
Ron nodded and he entered the room after Hermione moved. She shut the door behind him. Ron turned and sat on her couch. Hermione turned it off before she sat on her chair that is beside the couch. They stared at each other, confusion on a pale face was Ron.
“What’s up, Hermione?” Ron asked her worriedly.
“I…It’s just…umm, Ron, I just was wondering about us. I mean, I want you to stay around here more. I just feel like we don’t see enough of each other.” Hermione said.
Ron nodded, “so…you aren’t breaking up with me?”
Hermione looked shocked.
“No. No,” Hermione answered.
Ron let out a sigh of relief.
“Thank goodness! I was paranoid coming over here!” Ron stated giving himself a chuckle.
“Ronald, why in the world would you think that I was going to break up with you?” Hermione asked.
“Well, Hagrid said that you were mad and you wanted to talk to me. I just thought that it meant that you were going to break up with me.” Ron answered.
Hermione shook her head.
“No. Of course not. Ron, I love you!” Hermione told him.
Ron smiled a little and he then asked, “so, what was it that you wanted to talk to me then, I mean, besides what you said earlier?”
“I just don’t think that we spend enough time together and I know that is because both of our jobs, but I just fear that I won’t see you at all any time soon because of the whole protest thing. I know how important it is to you, Ron, but we haven’t had any dinners together for months or some actual talks. We just now basically say hi now.” Hermione said.
Ron nodded before he sighed and took her hand. She smiled down at it and he squeezed it.
“I know, Hermione. I have been thinking the same. Every time I have been wanting to spend a night with you or plan a surprise dinner, I had to work late or you did. And then this whole Ministry Malfoy mess came up and I have just been completely sidetracked.” Ron said.
Hermione sighed and he then leaned up to kiss her cheek before he slowly brought his lips to her. Hermione kissed him back and he then moved closer to her so that he could place his other hand on her cheek. They both then stepped back to take a breath, Hermione looked at him and sighed.
“You’re completely right, Hermione.” Ron told her, “So, if you don’t mind, I would like to spend the night with you.”
She looked at him, a little alarmed. Never has he stayed all night before.
“All night?” Hermione asked.
“Yes. I’ll just send an owl to George and tell him that I’ll be here tonight and that I’ll meet him back in the morning.” Ron said.
“But Ron, that protest is so important to you.” Hermione said bewildered.
“But you are important too.” Ron told her.
“All night though?”
“Of course. We can spend time together and when we get tired, I’ll just sleep on the couch.” Ron told her.
Though Hermione loved Ron, she had to admit that she was relieved. Her and Ron have never shared that experience with each other. There were nights where she had stayed over at the apartment that he lived in with Harry and he had stayed over at her house for a couple of nights before, but they had done nothing together. The subject never came up between them, but both could tell that neither wanted that specific relationship yet.
Hermione herself believed that the relationship that she had with Ron was already great. She didn’t feel that though she loved Ron, that type of physical love was needed. She wanted the moment to be perfect, not just on a whim.
Ron kissed her again and he set his forehead against hers.
“I’m sorry if I made you feel unwanted.” Ron told her.
Hermione sighed.
“And I am sorry that I took you away from the protest, I just have strong feelings about it and I’ve missed you.” Hermione said, “and work is so boring because there is no one coming in.”
“They probably will for the next three days since the Hogwarts train leaves in four. I’m sure that by tomorrow there will be a couple of people in at least to get their children books.” Ron told her in the hopes of brightening her spirits.
Hermione shrugged and kissed him before she pulled back and asked him, “do you want something to eat or drink. I was about to have some tea before you knocked at my door.”
Ron smiled and Hermione giggled.
“Oh course you’re hungry. There never is a time where you aren’t?” Hermione asked.
“It’s alright, Hermione. I already ate with George and Bill.” Ron told her.
Hermione shook her head and got up and went to the fridge as Ron turned on the television. She smiled when she saw the containers of her dinner leftovers. She looked over her shoulder before she then asked him, “do you want some chicken and potatoes?”
Ron immediately turned his head and he then looked over at Hermione. She was sure that his neck had snapped!
“Chicken?” he asked with a smile on his face.
Hermione giggled and realized why she had loved Ron. Not only have they been together since they were kids, but he always made her troubles go away by making her laugh.
