I take a hesitant step towards the guild, passing through the ragged doors.
"Hello?" I look up to see a large man, cloaked from head to toe. "Is this Fairy Tail?"
No answer. I draw my jacket closer to me as he passes me. He has a bad aura. Something destructive.
I continue walking in, holding my aura blade steadily in my hands. "May I speak to the Master?" I ask quietly. A short, old man steps in front of me.
"Yes, dear child?" The Master looks down at me, through my blazing red eyes.
"My friend wants to join this guild. Can he and I do it?"
"You two are mages?"
I chew my lip, trying my best not to blow up, "No. I'm not a mage. We're not mages."
"Why do want to be in a guild?" The Master bends down before me, wrinkling his clothes slightly. He reaches his hand to touch my face, but I slap his hand easily away. "Child."
I freeze, holding my hand gently. I'm angry. I know I am angry. I know why I am angry. But I do know it's not worth it. I tighten my grip on my hand, refusing to let my black aura come out.
Despite my efforts, a small sliver leaks out.
"Dark Magic," the Master mutters, staring at the visible aura. My blade flies out of my hand, growing larger with my anger. "Forgotten and forbidden magic. Child, where did you learn this magic?"
I growl, "How they hell am I supposed to know? It's probably because of your kind." I black out.

Pain shoots through out my body, and it seems that I've been awake the whole time, but no memory echoes in my mind. I shake in pain as I look at my shoulder. I nearly puke looking at the injury. A slim sword skewers my arm, cutting past the bone. Tears slip out of my eyes as I begin to slowly turn my head to the attacker.
Deep red hair brushes against my skin, and I see the darkest, coldest eyes I have ever witnessed besides my own. "Help me," I groan. Tears fall from my eyes freely in pain and in confusion, "I don't want to die. I don't want magic. I don't want to be a mage. I just want to go home."
The eyes flash with the tiniest bit of concern, but they immediately harden. "Little girl, we cannot accept you here. We have to report you to the council to restrain your magic."
I glance over, terrified, and I spy Riako, sitting on the ground, pinned by a giant. Monsters. They're all monsters. Riako didn't do anything! He didn't do anything to hurt them!
Riako isn't fighting back. Can he? Is he able to? Or does he not want to hurt them? I shake my head and glance to the wound.
Blood trickles down, and my head screams in pain, but not a single whimper escapes my lips. I retreat, clenching my teeth and squeezing my eyes shut. "Riako, let's leave. We can't stay here." In an instant, we disappeared.
"Gah! It hurts!" I cry, gripping the sheets. Riako hasn't said anything since we left, but it was obvious that I burst.
The dark aura isn't something that I was born with. I wasn't a mage when I was born. It was injected into me when a guild attacked my family, but I managed to escape. It kept hidden for a while, but when it began to consume my body, I was disowned in a heart beat.
"Riako," I moan, "What happened when I snapped."
"It awoke." Two-word answers. That means that he was scared witless.
