Chapter 03

The next day

I got ready to go see BaekHyun again

I grabbed the jewelry box with the engagement ring inside

and headed out to the hospital.

When I arrived, I knocked on the door but there was no answer.

And so I knocked again.

Since there was no answer I slowly opened the door.

As I open the door,

there is a lot of sun shining in

and I see BaekHyun lying on the bed

sleeping soundly.

It's only been 2 days since I've seen him

But why does it feel like it's been forever ..

I walk towards BaekHyun and place my hand slightly on his cheeks.

Suddenly he wakes up.

I got really surprised and jumped back.

"SaeIn ??" -BaekHyun

BaekHyun was still looking for SaeIn

but all I could do is stand and watch.

BaekHyun sits up and moves his arms around

as if to find something he can't see.

His eyes are open

but it's not specifically looking at anything.

It's just open.

I guess .. I guess he really can't see ..

"Sae .. SaeIn ... (sigh) ...." -BaekHyun

Since nothing came into his grasps

BaekHyun leans his body forward towards his knees

and starts crying a soft sigh

It hurts so much to look at him.

I'm sorry ..

This was originally my place ..

But because of me ...

"Was I dreaming again ..?" -BaekHyun

Because of the sadness

the pain

the loneliness

I couldn't control myself and blurted out

"I'm right here !!"

"Sae .. Saein ..?" -BaekHyun

As I yell out, I see BaekHyun turn towards my voice

"... yea ... I'm right here ... BaekHyun ... oppa"

I didn't want him to think that I was me

and so I called him oppa which I haven't said in ages

"SaeIn .. Where are you ...?" -BaekHyun

Tears were still dripping down his face as he raises his arms one more time to find me

I walk up to him slowly

and grab onto the hands that's been lost

and as soon as we touch

he plunges into my embrace and hugs me like a little boy

"Why .. Why'd you come so late ...?

I wanted to see you ..." -BaekHyun

He's crying

but I see peace in his face

".... Me too ...."
