Ray POV
"Hello!" Jen chirps as she waves two bottles of champagne in my face.
"Hey," I smile widely as I let her into the house.
"You're early," I turn to look at Harry leaning on the door as Anne appears with a wide smile.
"Yeah, I tried to get here as soon as possible and voila! Here I am," Jen cheers.
"I was being sarcastic," Harry grumbles. "You are as late as you could get."
"I know you're being sarcastic, I just wanted the reaction I just received."
"Jen..." I stop Harry from embarrassing Jen. "Harry stop it. Leave her be."
Harry rolls his eyes and walks to the dining, "Fine."
"I'll get the plates." Anne says as she walks to the kitchen, with the bottles of Champagne.
I turn to look at Jen who is eyeing Harry and I, wiggling her eyebrows. "What is going on?" she asks.
"What do you mean?" I furrow my brows.
"Well, you know, there is something weird happening here. Harry just obeyed you and is now sitting quietly on the dining like a good pup." She points out.
"Jen, you know I can hear you, right?" Harry asks.
"Yeah, but how is it that you are being so obedient today?" She asks.
"Jen, he is just trying to be good to his long lost childhood love." Anne speaks up.
"His what?"
...................
"So, you two..." Jen asks after a long pause. "Are childhood friends?"
"Yup, so tells my resource." I say pointing at Anne.
"And Harry had crush on you?" Jen asks and starts laughing.
"What's so funny?" Harry asks.
"Nothi.... Nothing," Jen continues to laugh, trying hard to catch her breath. "It is just that, you had no clue until now that it was... was her.... And Anne and I were trying to set you both up as dates for my wedding."
"What? Mom?" Harry looks at his mother as I see his cheeks flush a little.
"Yea, what's wrong with it? You both are young, cute and fun, thought you might gel up and you definitely did!" Anne answers.
"But, that's not the way to do it mother! Wedding date? Seriously?" Harry asks.
"We saw that as an opportunity, you know, for you to move on," Anne said with a flash of pain in her eyes.
"Mom," Harry sighed. "Look I know that at some point I need to move on, but you need to give me some time."
"Are you saying you are ready to move on?" Anne asked with hope.
"Will be," Harry answered.
"Will be is way better than never," Jen spoke.
"Ok now that emotional talks are out of the way, Ray and I have finalized my outfit for your big day, Jen." Harry says.
"Wait, what? Really?" She asks as I nod. "Without me?"
Harry slapped his hand against his forehead. "Stop it. You are at fault, you were late."
"Ohkay fine. Atleast show me the design...." Jen pleads.
"Nope, it is a surprise." Harry says and holds my wrist, stopping me from reaching out to my sketchbook. I look at him and he shakes his head in a no.
