Chapter 9

TULIPS

Pink sulked all the way back to her class. How can Ice humiliate her in front of her friends? She waited until they went out for lunch. She had to confront Ice. She strode to the IC department. She sighted Ice sitting at the reading room. He was working on his laptop. She squeezed her face and walked up to him.

"P'Ice..."
Ice rolled his eyes when he recognized her voice.

"What can I do for you, Pink?" He stressed.

Pink wasn't surprised at his reaction but she just had to tell him a piece of her mind.

"How could you humiliate me in front of my friends, huh?"

What is she talking about? Humiliate? If anyone got humiliated then it was him. Ice faced his laptop again. He was getting bored already.

"Am I talking myself here?" Pink attacked. "Why would you do that to me, do you hate me that much?"

"Yes," Ice replied bluntly.

Pink gasped.
"I'm just trying to be close to you like our parents suggested. You should be grateful I even get to notice you."

Nataporn and Tanaporn was passing by the reading room when they saw Pink talking to Ice while he just ignored her. They decided to stop and watch the scene. Nataporn had a stick sweet in his mouth while his best friend was snacking on some biscuits.

Ice slapped his pen on the table and stood up to face Pink.

"Pink, I'm not interested in cheap girls who go about doing some messed up cheering practice. Excuse me because I'm busy."

Pink's face flushed red. Her mouth was open as she made to digest every words that came out of ice's mouth.
Ice made to leave but Pink grabbed his arms.

"Ice... You asshole. How dare you say that to me?"

Ice lifted his arms from her grasp and shoved her aside. He packed up his laptop and phone and walked out of the room.

"That guy is so mean." Nat protested. "How can he reject P'Pink?" He tugged on his friend's shirt. "She's so pretty, how can he reject her. Is he stupid?"

"That's the Ice king. Such a handsome guy but so mean." Tan added. "He almost ate me up when the ball flew past his car."

"Oh, he was the guy?"

"Yes."

Nat whined. He couldn't understand why Ice was harsh to Pink. He wished he were in his shoes.

"If I were him, I will be the happiest guy in the world. Having P'Pink as my girlfriend will be dream come true. Tan what do you think?"

Tan looked at his friend like he has gone crazy. He shook his head in disagreement
"You and Pink... No way Nat. It's going to be disastrous, you know that."

"Hmmm, really."

"Yes, don't think much about it." Tan said patting his delusional friend on his shoulders. "Unfortunately, P'Pink only dates classy and rich guys."

"I'm classy right?"

Tan looked at his friend from head to toe, weighing his worth in cash.

"Nat, let's just forget about it. Let's go have lunch with Tip."

Goth

"P' I'm at the medical building, now."

"Okay, give me five minutes I will be right there."

He dropped the call. It was lunch break and Choice had requested to see his junior friend.

He looked around the medical campus. He recalled when Ice introduced him to some seniors in medical school. He prayed that he wouldn't see any of them because they will ask him about Ice. 

He stood beside a flower tree and tried to hide his face when students passed by.

He felt a tap on shoulders. He turned around thinking it was Choice. The smile disappeared from his face when he saw two mean seniors staring grimly at him.

"Having fun?" One of them asked.

Goth didn't understand what they meant. He shook his head from left to right.

"What are you doing here and where is your rich boyfriend?"

"I don't have any rich boyfriend..."

"Look at him lying through his teeth," the other one threatened.

"You're leeching off him right, pretending to be his boyfriend."

"No, I'm not..."

"So how much have you made, huh."

The boy grabbed Goth's pants and began searching his pockets for money, while the other stood watching for anyone coming through way. Goth struggled to break free from his grip.

"Stop this, I don't have any money you're looking for."

"Shut up!" They scolded.

Choice walked out of the building and sighted Goth in trouble. He rushed to the scene.

"What the hell is wrong with you?"
The two boys looked up and freed the weak boy. Choice marked their faces.

"I know you boys, and I'm going to report to the school authority for this,"  Choice pointed at them. The boys looked at each other and quickly ran off.

Choice dropped the fancy bag he was holding and helped Goth.
"Are you okay?"

Goth tried to speak but he was tearful. He leaned his face on Choice shoulder and sobbed.

"It's okay, Goth. I'm here," Choice patted Goth's warm shoulder and back.

"I feel so stupid," Goth said amidst sobs.

Choice held Goth's hand as they walked to a private corner where they could sit and talk.

"Who are those guys?" Choice asked.
Goth looked away.

"You don't have to tell me if you're not comfortable with me."

"Those guys are the same guys I used to hang out with when I was dating Ice," Goth stammered out.
Choice squinted his eyes in annoyance when he heard Ice name. "We spent money and now it's gone..."

"Stop crying. I think whatever you had with Ice is in the past now,"
Goth nodded and wiped his eyes.

"I can't believe I was foolish and blinded by him."

"It's okay Goth."

"I regret ever meeting him. I feel so bad."

Choice brought out his handkerchief and gave to Goth.

"You're not a bad person. You were just in a wrong circumstance at the wrong time."

"Thank you P'..."

Choice gave Goth a few seconds to put himself together.
"I have a little surprise for you but if you keep crying I won't show you."

Goth felt elated. He quickly wiped his eyes dry with the hanky. "I'm not crying anymore."

"Good. Here..." Choice handed the fancy bag to Goth. "It's something I got for you when I went to town." Goth tried to peep inside the bag but Choice stopped him.

"Stop. When you get to your room you can see what's inside."

"Okay P'... Thanks."

Choice nodded and smiled. He watched Goth leave the medical campus. What a lovely boy. His heart bled when he saw Goth crying. He was such a baby. Just that he never realized how much the people close to him love him. Goth always felt his true love was out there. Choice had reached out to him in different ways but Goth was busy chasing the clouds.
