"baby?" taeyong looked behind him to find the source of the voice right behind him with his arms wrapped around his waist lovingly. "it's 2am, why are you still up? what's got you thinking so hard?"

taeyong simply smiled at him as he turned to face jaehyun completely. he hooked his arms around jaehyun's neck as he looked up at the younger boy. "it's nothing important. i just couldn't sleep."

jaehyun pursed his lips, looking unconvinced at taeyong's vague explanation. "are you sure?"

"i was just thinking about us," taeyong mumbled as he rested his head on jaehyun's chest.

"oh, really? what about us?" jaehyun asked, planting a soft kiss on top of taeyong's head.

"just, how happy you make me and how glad i am that i have you," taeyong said, smiling up at him. "i just, i wish i could tell the world all that and not just be able to say it when it's just us two."

jaehyun suddenly felt like crying. he was so in love with the boy in his arms right now and yet he couldn't tell anyone out there. "baby-"

"i'm just being stupid again, i know. i know we can't."

"i'm sorry," jaehyun sighed. he rested his head on taeyong's shoulder as he tightened his grip on the shorter boy's waist. "you know i'd show you off to the world if i could. i love you so much."

taeyong hummed in response. they stayed like that for a few minutes, simply enjoying being in each other's warm presence. if only they could do this outside the privacy of their dorms.

"hey, let's get back to bed," taeyong said softly, letting go of his grip around jaehyun's neck. "we have to practice tomorrow morning."

"okay," jaehyun agreed. he tugged at taeyong's hand. "sleep in my room?"

taeyong nodded.

being in bed with jaehyun's arms around him, he thinks that maybe this isn't all that bad. as long has he had moments like this with jaehyun, even if it's only possible behind closed doors right now. he thinks that yeah, it'll all be worth it in the end.
