- JOE'S POV - before I knew it we were on the train. I stuffed Demi and I's larger suitcases into the cubby with everyone else's. After I walked upstairs, holding Demi's soft hand and we picked our room. My parents were next to us and my brother Nick and little brother Frankie were on the other side of us. Demi was originally going to sleep with my mom but I convinced my parents to have her stay with me. We opened the sliding door into our room. It wasn't too small but it wasn't very big. Luckily my parents got us all the larger cabins on the train. Because I don't think Demi and I would have lasted in the smaller rooms. I set Demi's bag with all our electronics down and sat my laptop at the small table area. I stuck my head out our doorway. The hallways were a tiny bit wider than an airplane's. I quickly went back into the room and set next to Demi on the edge of our bed. "You doing okay, dems?" I asked her as I put my arm around her. She looked me in the eyes. "They said he only has a few more months." I could see the sadness in her eyes. I sighed. "I know, baby." I put my other arm around her so I was hugging her. "it's gonna be okay, dems." I kissed her head and stroked her hair. "everything.. Is gonna be okay." "How can you be so sure, Joe? This isn't just a cold or a flu. This is Cancer. Cancer, Joe. Do you know what cancer does to people? It kills them, joe." her voice got quieter. "it kills them." "Demi, I've known your dad since we were kids. And he is not a quitter. He's gonna fight this, I know it. He'll be fine." "promise?" "promise." I said as I leaned in and gave her a kiss.
I heard a knock on our door. I looked up to see my dad standing in the hallway. I walked to it and opened the door. "what's up, dad?" I said as I walked back to sit with demi. "we're going to have dinner in the dinning area in 15 minutes. Can you guys meet us down there?" "sure, dad." I said. "alright. Dont be late joesph." he gave me one of those dad looks. Like 'I mean it.' or 'you better listen to me cause I'm your dad.' I just grinned an closed the door behind him. I sat next to Demi who I could tell was still a little upset about her dad so I pulled her close to me and held her ad whispered that everything was going to be alright.
