Chapter 1
It had been two months since my break up with Kevin and I was finally starting to feel like myself again. To be honest, I really cared about him and I wanted things to work out between us. But in the back of my mind, I knew that Justin was the one I needed to be with and Kevin still felt for his ex. It just would not be fair for us to move forward with that emotional baggage following us around.
So, I decided that I would give Justin a call, but before I could do so my phone started ringing.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Hey, it’s Ricky!”
I gasped, “Hey! Wow, what you been up to?”
“Not too much, I’m in town tonight. What you doing?” he asked.
“Just finished up some work for a client,” I replied.
“Why don’t we go get dinner or something? Or I could bring something to the house if you want,” he said.
“Just bring something here, I honestly don’t feel like going out,” I said.
“Cool, I’ll surprise you. Just text your address to me and I’ll see you soon.”
“Sure thing,” I replied.
After I texted Ricky my address, I decided that I would put off calling Justin until after he left. A few hours later, Ricky showed up with food from Panda Express and greeted me with a big hug.
“It’s so great to see you Dav!” he exclaimed when I let him inside.
“It’s good to see you too! What brings you to town?” I asked.
“Actually I’m auditioning for a movie that will be shot here,” he replied.
We put the food on the table and sat down to eat.
“That’s great!” I exclaimed.
“So what you been up to? You ever reconcile with Justin?” Ricky asked.
I sighed, “Actually, I’m just now getting over a break up. Justin kept getting in the way and I couldn’t shake my feelings for him, no matter how much I tried to be angry with him for what he did to me. To top it all off, my ex boyfriend still had feelings for his high school sweetheart.”
“Wow, that’s tough. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine now. Justin kept fighting for me ever since I started dating the other guy. I think I was just in denial about everything and I was too afraid to trust Justin again,” I said.
“Are you gonna take him back?” Ricky asked.
“I’m thinking about it.”
“You remember Lydia?”
“Yeah, what about her?” I answered.
“She wants me back, but I dunno if I wanna go there with her again,” he said.
“Look dude, Justin gave me hell with my last relationship. He was so persistent and I couldn’t shake my feelings for him. If you love her, then go for it,” I said.
“You’re right. I’ll give Lydia a call. Hey thanks for letting me come over,” he said.
“No thank YOU for bringing food. I needed the conversation,” I said.
After we ate I said, “Hey, if you need a guest room I got you.”
“Thanks, but I got a room. But next time I’ll definitely let you know,” he said.
“Good luck on your auditions and I hope you really do give Lyd a call,” I said.
He smiled, “Thanks and I hope that you work on things with Justin. That guy is crazy about you obviously.”
I tried to fight the blush that crept into my cheeks and I smiled, “Okay.”
After Ricky left, I took a deep breath and called Justin.
When he answered he said, “Dav, I’m so glad you called.”
I sighed, “Are you in town?”
“Yes, I’m actually at the restaurant right now taking care of business. What’s up?” he said.
“Can you come by? We need to talk,” I said.
“Absolutely, let me finish up here and I’ll be on my way,” he replied.
While I waited for him to come by the house I straightened up a bit and found myself dozing off on the couch.
When Justin finally showed up, I let him in and sat on the couch. He followed suit and looked me in the eyes and I tried to hold it together.
“Um…I called you because there are some things that need to be cleared up,” I said.
Justin nodded and continued to wait for what I said to say.
“First of all, Kevin and I decided to part ways. It really hurt, but our feelings were with other people,” I said.
Justin started to look a little hopeful. “And with that being said, I never stopped feeling for you. It just killed me to think about what happened between us before.”
“Hey, I’m so sorry for the way that I treated you. What I lost you I fell out with Drake and Wade. I dunno if they told you but Wade literally knocked some sense into me when we were still in Florida. I wanted to die. And when I saw you with Kevin, I couldn’t let you go,” he said.
I could feel tears starting to sting my eyes. “Can I trust you again?”
Justin gently grabbed my hands and said, “Yes baby! I’ve stopped drinking and I cut all ties with that girl. I’ve paid loads of money to the paparazzi to leave you alone. I miss you so much.”
“I just…I need some time Justin. I just don’t know,” I cried.
He moved closer to me and said, “Babe, don’t be upset. I’m here now and I promise you I won’t let you down.”
He started wiping my tears away and kissed my cheek. I looked up at him and wrapped my arms around him and I let him hold me for a long time.
