Drip. Drip. Drip
As I stared out of my office window, I admired the beauty held by the raindrops. The falling of the rain took over my senses and for a moment I was forgotten of all every worry and care I had in the world. The grey sky complemented the ivory clouds that adorned the sky and bombarded the world with it's compelling waters that fell from them. I was captivated at how dark and unruly the world felt and qutie honestly, I actually felt safe and ... camoflauged; like I somehow belonged.
The rain looks beautiful when it's falling, and so do you.
"Doctor James, your 9:00 patient has arrived." Snapping out of my jumbled thoughts, I quickly muttered an apology to my assistant and asked for him to be sent in. Quickly pushing my fumbled thoughts to the back of my head, I gathered my things to begin my day.
"How's my favorite doctor doing?" I turned my head to see Johnny standing in the doorway with his arm spread wide open and a huge smile garnshing his handsome face.
"Hello Johnny, it's good to see you today."
"Pleasure is all mine." Striding over to me, he place a light kiss on the back of my hand and I couldn't help but giggle. He was so disarming and gentlemanly that I was in complete awe of him. Sometimes I forget that Johnny had killed his entire family when he was nineteen.
He was just do disarming and. . . free. Like he was proud of what he'd done. Taking every single thing that was holding him back and setting it to a blazing flame that held no regrets or solicitude; which of course was ironic considering he murdered his family by setting his childhood home on fire.
But nevertheless, Johnny was my favorite patient.
Taking a seat on the couch with following suit oppoite me, I began my questionaire. "Johnny, tell me, how have you been?"
"Horrible." He replied with a disturbed look on his face.
"Oh? And why's that?" I replied while jotting down some notes.
"Well I was beginning to feel all lonely in that new apartment I just moved into, so I got a dog. Damn thing keeps barking from sunrise to sunset!" Taking a deep breath, he began to frustratingly pull at his hair. "I buy him expensive toys, food, I even hold it and it just keeps fucking barking!" he near-shouted.
"So. . . how did you get it to shut up?" I inquired.
"Oh you know, I just layed down the rules and showed him who's boss!" He flexed his muscles behind his head and folded one foot over the other, looking quite smug with himself.
I couldn't help it, I broke out into a fit of laughter. My laughter began to increase as I looked at him like he grew three heads and pointed, "Y - yo ... you 'layed down the law' with your dog!"
"Yes, yes I did. Doctor James I wish you'd have more faith in me." When he noticed that my laughter would not subside anytime soon, he quickly added, "I let my glock do the talking though."
That shut me up. "No," I gasped, "Please tell me you did not shoot your dog. Johnny please."
"I couldn't help it. My bloodlust instincts had kicked in and all I could do was shoot the bloody creature."
"Oh dear God, " I face-palmed, "People I guess I could understand. But an innocent little dog. Shooting a dog, now that's a first Johnny."
