Chapter 2:
Cameron POV
"Why did you leave her?" I want to scream, but the words come out calmly. Britton looks at the ground, "I had to check on you Cam." The wolf was a tough son of a bitch, and got some good hits in before I finally took him out. After he was down I went in search of Britton and the little white wolf so I could make sure she was ok, but Britton was already in search of me and little white was gone. "Where did she go? Did you track her?" my voice betraying my control and showing anger. My mate was attacked, and now I don't even know where she is or if she's ok? Some mate I've started out as. We protected her, like mates are supposed to, my wolf argues. Growling in my head at my lack of approval, I can feel him pacing with the same worry I feel.
We don't even know her name! How can I find her if we don't know who she is? I feel him backing down and get no response from the wolf. "I know she's part of the Moonwater pack." Britton says gently, and I snap my head towards him. "How do you know that?" "We were on their territory Cam. That's the edge of the patrol." I look into my friends eyes and see nothing but worry, probably by the fact that I had no clue we were on another pack's territory.
I sit pace around the living room, not knowing what to do now.
Do I ask their alpha to see if I can find my mate? Do I wait and possibly lose her? Did she know my scent? We will find her my wolf whispers in the back of my mind. Britton has spent the last couple days trying to distract me, and so far he's the only one that knows about the fight and finding my mate. "Cam, don't worry so much. Fate will bring her back to you, if you're fated mates it will happen." My heart felt stretched. Britton come closer and pulls me into a half hug. "Let's go get some pizza." The rest of the Bloodsong pack had already had dinner at my parents' house, and I couldn't muster the energy to join them. I nod and he goes to start the car, I sit back on the couch and suddenly everything is different.
I feel like a guest in a dream, everything is a little blurry and it's like watching a movie without sound. A girl is walking around the woods, my heart lurches and I whisper, "come to me" and suddenly a boy appears and tries to get her to sit, but she refuses. They talk for a minute and the view changes, everything gets blurrier. I know we are in a house with who I assume is her family, but i cant see any details other than whats outside of the windows, surrounded by trees, and a dirt driveway. It isn't much but its something. "I need you," I whisper again before I'm shoved out of the dream. Britton is shaking me and yelling my name, grab his arms to stop the movement.
"Ton, I saw her... Kind of." My heart starts pounding and I feel the need to go find her, fuck the consequences of trespassing. "Cam, calm down. Your wolf is very close." I know he's right, but I'm very close to not caring about the formalities. What if she is in trouble? Would their alpha reach out to us for help with the rogues? "Britton..." I meet his green eyes full of worry. "What happens if they are still under attack?" he contemplates for a couple seconds. "Well Alpha. I think it's time to call a meeting with Alpha Connery," I shake my head, his duty as my Beta is to advise me, and being as his head is more clear than mine is at the moment, I will do as he advises.
The need to protect one's mate is one of the strongest urges that a male can have, or so I've heard. And my father told me that finding your mate is the best feeling that you will ever experience. I don't even know little white's name, or anything about her, other than she is the bravest female I've ever seen. Let's go to her my wolf speaks up. I shake my head and he growls at me quietly, and I walk into my office with Britton behind me. We sit on either side of the desk as I dial Alpha Connery's pack house. "Alpha Connery, how may I help you?" "Hello Alpha. This is Alpha Adams and Beta Williamson, we have it on authority you are having some problems with rogues. We would like to offer assistance in any way possible."
