If a personification is in their nation and something big happens, that personifications feels its effects as it happens, and goes back to normal as the situation subsides.
However, if a personification is outside their boundaries and something happens, depending on how far away they are, the effects will gradually become apparent to the personification and likewise take longer to quell.
For example, let's say there was a big terrorist attack on a nation. If the personification for that nation was within their borders, they would instantly feel that they were attacked, but would heal as the attacks stop and the initial shock goes away. If that nation were outside their borders, it might take a bit for that nation to feel just how bad the attack was, and would still be healing after the situation is under control.
