"Dammit Ashton!" Athena screams.
I flinch at the loudness of her voice. Usually I'm the one yelling, but tonight the tables have turned.
"I love you so damn much! You get that right?" She pauses, waiting for an answer from me. I nod slowly. I'm not entirely sure where she's going with this. "But, my parents have told me over and over that I made a mistake by being with you." Her voice lowers. It hurts my heart to see the tears in her eyes. "And here recently, I'm starting to believe them." She looks up at me with those electric blue eyes that made me fall in love with her almost one year ago. "All we do is fight, Ash. It's tearing me apart. It's physically and mentally exhausting me." She chokes on those last two sentences.
I rush forward, wrapping my arms around her. She hugs back with all her strength. It feels so right to have her small body in my arms.
But, I have a feeling this will be the last time I'll be able to call her mine.
"I love you," I say into her hair. I can feel her tears soaking my shirt.
"I-I love you too," She sobs. Athena pulls away without warning. "Wh-Which is why I need to leave."
"What?" I say, choking on the word because I'm forcing the tears down. "N-No."
Athena kisses my cheek. "Goodbye Ash."
"Athena, no." She starts walking to the door. I try stopping her by grabbing her wrist. Athena anticipates that move so she's able to escape from my grasp. She knows me too well.
"Please don't leave," I beg, trying to walk to the door to stop her.
Just the movement of her hand making the 'stop' motion is enough for me to obey. Tears prick at my eyes. I can't lose her. She's the only thing that has made me truly happy in a long time.
Why do I fuck up everything?
"Ash," Athena begs, the hurt in her voice is evident. And it kills me that I'm the one causing it. "Don't follow me." Somehow she manages to croak out that sentence. She usually can't speak when she gets this upset. She turns the doorknob, pulling open the door. "I'll have Donna come get my things next week. And don't even try to contact me."
With that, she slams the door behind her, leaving me with tears in my eyes.
Things started out so good. To be completely honest, as soon as I laid my eyes on her, I fell in love.
It all happened one year ago.
The night started out as usual. Michael would beg me to go to some club so that he could get shitfaced and bang some random chicks. I had grown used to that lifestyle and started having my own sexual encounters. I actually believed my dumb ass mind when it said I was happy. I genuinely believed it. Michael was perfect for that kind of life. He used to be a huge party guy.
Me, however, have always been more suited to the "tied down" lifestyle. To have one girl to call mine for the rest of my life. Ever since I was young, that's all I wanted.
And that night, I thought I got my wish.
Mike and I walked into the crowded club. The bass pulsing through the dance floor was insane. All around were sweaty bodies grinding against each other. A scene, I am sad to say, that I had grown accustomed to.
"Alright mate!" Mike yelled over the loud EDM music. "I just spotted an eight! I'll see you tomorrow!"
Before I could even respond, Michael was running off into the swarm of bodies.
That no longer bothered me. He usually left me. At first, it made me nervous, but after a while I learned not to give a shit. I ran a hand through my dirty blonde, curly hair. I didn't want to take a girl home that night. I only wanted to get drunk. So, I walked over to the bar to do just that.
However, as I stood there waiting for the bartender to get done with other people, an angelic voice spoke up next to me.
"What's a guy like you doing here all alone?" She asked.
I instantly took in her appearance. She looked completely different than any girl in the club. Mostly because she was fully clothed. She had on black ripped skinny jeans and a The Maine shirt which hugged her body perfectly. Her curly red hair framed her face perfectly, causing her electric blue eyes to pop.
I sighed with fake annoyance. "I have a boyfriend," I joked in a high pitched voice.
She laughed at my ridiculous statement. I grinned at her. Her laugh quickly became my favorite thing.
"At least you have a sense of humor," She grinned. "I'm Athena, by the way." She stuck out her hand.
"Ashton," I reply, shaking her hand.
And the rest is history. We were perfectly happy until that last month. Her parents never liked me in the first place, so it didn't help when they were over at Athena and I's place for dinner and Michael showed up, drunk off his ass, begging me to go out with him because a girl I banged was at a club he was just at. After that, her parents despised me. In that last month, they gave Athena hell for being with me. That was the root of all of our arguments.
This is what lead me to this very moment. Me with tears streaming down my face, staring at my front door. I guess you could say we found Wonderland. Even for a short time.
And in the end in Wonderland, we both went mad.
[A/N] so this is just a heads up that all of my one shots are based upon songs. I have wrote all of these one shots myself so sorry if some of them suck. Thanks for reading!
