Gray walked into the guild the next day, his heart was pounding at the thought of Natsu and if he still wants to know what was up with him last night. He didn't, the pinkette was too caught up in a conversation he was having with Lucy, it was a surprise to Gray that Happy wasn't joining in the chat.
"what are they talking about?" Gray sat down next to Happy, who was on his own.
"probably about girlfriend boyfriend stuff" Happy replied rather unhappily, Gray was in utter shock.
"WHAT?!" He shouted gaining the attention of his fellow guild mates, a silence filled the room and then everyone turned back to what they were doing previously. Happy was confused at Gray's sudden interest in Natsu's love life.
"didn't you know, Lucy asked Natsu last night" Happy said "why are you so bummed about it?" the blue cat asked.
"No reason" Gray laughed and rubbed the back of his neck hoping that Happy wouldn't suspect anything, Happy would have said something back if it weren't for Juvia sitting down next to Gray.
"thinking about taking anyone to the party?" she said looking dreamily into Gray's eyes, wanting him to say that he was thinking about taking her.
"not really" he mumbled, he stood up and walked out of fairytail feeling depressed he was making his way to the park that he usually goes when he's sad, he sat down on the snowy grass and leaned up against a big oak tree.
"what's up, you seem sad" Lucy ran up to him and sat down, Gray was lost for words he couldn't say that he loved Natsu and she was getting in the way of his happiness, even if it was the truth.
"It nothing" he said so Lucy could only just hear.
"come on you can tell me" she nudged him.
"you wouldn't understand" he moved away from her a bit so he could have a little person space "and its not like you could help me anyway" he looked away hoping that she wouldn't press the matter further.
"trust me, I'll totally understand" Lucy smile didn't vanish and Gray knew that she wouldn't give in.
"fine" he hesitated for a moment "I - I'm in love with Natsu" he hoped she hadn't heard him.
"oh" Lucy's smile was wiped clean off her face and the area was filled with complete silence even the birds had stopped singing, she didn't move, neither did Gray they just say looking straight ahead into the distance.
"what are you talking about?" Natsu was suddenly standing infront of them, no one answered him "heloooo" he waved his hand infront of there faces but they didn't even blink let alone speak, eventually Gray stood up and walked away not saying a word and left the couple alone "what was that all about?" Natsu helped Lucy up from the grass.
"it's complicated" Lucy finally said. But Natsu was determined to know, he asked and asked and asked until Lucy felt like crawling into a hole "please stop, you really don't want to know you can't know" Lucy couldn't let him know in fear that he would leave her for Gray. Natsu still wanted to know an he wouldn't give up, no matter how much she tried. "but you'll leave me" she blurted out, she knew now that he would have to be told the truth or else he'll go find it out himself.
"I won't leave you, I promise" Natsu said "now just tell me what you're conversation was" Lucy smiled knowing that he'd just made a promise that he might not want to keep.

Gray was at home watching TV, he thought it would take his mind off of everything that was going on in his life but it didn't help, he couldn't stop thinking of what he said to Lucy and if she would tell Natsu or not.
"Gray" he heard his voice being called by someone who sounded like Natsu, and when he turned he found he was right "I know you're secret" he smiled softly and tilted his head slightly making Gray feel all tingly inside. "I love you too" Gray was so happy, he ran up to him with his arms spread wide, he tried to wrap his arms around his love but in a moment he was gone.
He was having hallucinations frequently now, they were all of Natsu, some people from the guild had come to visit but not one of them had been Natsu, or Lucy as a matter of fact, probably too busy with girlfriend boyfriend stuff. It turns out he had missed the new years party but he didn't want to be there if he wasn't there with Natsu.
