The Flaming Tsar and the Magicborn

Before We Begin...

This story may be a part of "The Powerful Hidden World" saga, but it's also a part of the Changing Fire Universe. That story is about what happens when regular humans encounter Atlanteans, spellcasters, vampires, and werewolves. Those humans who had those encounters often experience some rather harsh revelations about the state of humanity; half of them end up losing their humanity as a result.

Long before the events of "Changing Fire", there was the story about Imperial Russia and how it declined due to some very bad decisions. Those decisions ranged from Czar Alexander II's infidelity to his son Czar Alexander III's brutal crackdown on the people, especially those who were in favor of overthrowing the czarist rule and setting Russia up as a republic. Nicholas, however, refuses to be controlled, which resulted in many conflicts with the vampires and werewolves.

At the same time, the world is developing quickly, especially in terms of industry and technology. But the country of Columbiana (formerly known as the United States of America) is developing slowly due to the firebombing that happened at the end of the U.S. Civil War.  Plus, many people living there aren't allowed to own any of the latest technology due to them being punished for allowing slavery and pushing the Native Americans off their lands. Russia (along with several other countries) is discouraged from trading with Columbiana until the reparations are made.

Yet, the action taking place in Russia is the forefront of this story, as the vampires and werewolves will clash with Nicholas over many important issues as well as their place in Russian history. And the things they do will not only affect Russia and the people who live in it, but the rest of the world...
