____________________________________________________________________You had gone to bed early that night, much earlier than usual. It was a surprise to both Sans and Papyrus. Normally, they had to practically drag you off the couch and force you into bed since you stayed up late watching your favorite shows. When Sans asked if you were okay, you brushed him off with a simple, "Yeah, I'm just tired."
Truthfully, you hadn't been feeling well for the past week. Your stomach had been aching with something fierce, and you'd been losing weight from barely eating. Every bite made you nauseous, and your appetite had vanished completely.
You'd lived in the Underground for three years now. Ever since you fell, life had changed, but in a way, you were thankful for it. The life you left behind up there was filled with selfish and greedy people. Down here, the monsters were kind, warm, and welcoming. You'd grown close to the skelebros, especially Sans. He offered you a place to stay and food on the table when you first arrived, and you couldn't say no to that adorable grin of his.
It was a simple life now, but one you loved.
Sometime around 3 AM, you were wrenched from sleep by a sharp, relentless pain in your stomach. A groan escaped your lips as you curled in on yourself, clutching your abdomen tightly. The room was dark and quiet, except for the faint sound of the clock ticking in the distance. Cold sweat beaded on your forehead, and your whole body trembled. The pain was getting worse.
You let out a shaky breath and whispered to no one. "Ugh... what's wrong with me..." But the room gave no answers.
"Oh, I hate you so much right now, body." You mumbled to yourself before you felt nauseous.
Your eyes widened as a sudden wave of nausea hit you like a brick wall. Clapping a hand over your mouth, you scrambled out of bed, half stumbling, half sprinting toward the bathroom. You didn't even bother opening the door properly; you kicked it open with a shaky foot and dropped to your knees over the toilet just in time.
Whatever was left of your dinner came up in a miserable rush.
You groaned, weakly leaning against the side of the toilet as your trembling arms barely kept you upright. Cold sweat clung to your skin, and your stomach twisted again, though there was nothing left to bring up.
"Ugh... gross." You rasped, your voice hoarse and raw as you spat the bitter taste from your mouth.
That's when you heard it, the soft shuffle of footsteps behind you. You barely managed to turn your head, your vision swimming, to see Sans standing there in the doorway.
He looked like he'd just rolled out of bed, his white T-shirt wrinkled and his pajama pants covered in a blue star pattern. His eye lights were half-lidded with sleep, but the worried frown on his face was unmistakable.
"Human? What are you doing up at this hour?" He mumbled, rubbing his socket with the heel of his hand.
You gave a tired sigh, forcing yourself to spit into the toilet one last time before grabbing the sink to haul yourself up. "I just... slipped." You croaked weakly. "I'm fine, Blueberry. Go back to bed."
You winced as your throat burned, coughing into your arm.
Sans's sockets narrowed suspiciously as he peeked into the toilet, his face contorting in disgust. "Did you just....throw up?"
You groaned, steadying yourself against the sink. "Yeah... sorry I woke you, Blue."
He gave you a look like you'd just spoken in a different language. "What?! Why are you apologizing for being ill? That isn't very reasonable! That is not your fault, human."
