Finally. Free.
It wasn't a word to use lightly, especially when in this kind of situation. Finally free from him. No more rules and regulations to keep myself to. No more yelling because he wasn't happy. No more begging for him to leave me be.
A small smirk spread across my face.
Free... but with nowhere else to go...
shit.I had thrown on a thin shirt and my coat when I left but it wasn't much use against the bitter January air.
It wasn't late, more like mid-afternoon, a time I hated in particular for no reason other than the amount of people around the streets. I felt like they knew everything."Pull yourself together Sam," I whispered to myself, trying to ignore any strange looks from passers by "you can get through this. You have to."
My feet were carrying me to a place without me knowing. My subconscious was taking the usual path I took when I left the house. And I only ever leave the house to go to work. Even though I didn't need to. I guess it's the only place I would be safe. Well that or I wanted to get myself drunk.
I had been working as a bar tender for the last few years at a local club called "blue light". No idea why the name was chosen, but the owners sure did like blue. The walls, lights, glasses, hell even most of the drinks were blue. It was a calm atmosphere though, until you hit around midnight.
Then you were bombarded with druggies and all that good stuff.I was very familiar with the type of people the bar attracted. After all, the area wasn't really what one would consider 'nice'. But the people were nice, just not the area.
Because of the location a lot of the LGBTQ+ crowd and the BDSM clubs were held around here. Despite what you my think they're a nice crowd.
I checked my watch. Great... another few hours till opening... at least I was early right? I took a seat on a nearby bench and dug my book back out my bag. This was going to be a long wait.
