"Liza, hurry up! We are gonna be late!" her mother yelled from downstairs.

In turn, Liza merely rolled her eyes and continued getting herself ready for school. Just another day, she thought while spraying on her favorite vanilla flavored perfume. She knew that no matter how fast she got ready, her mother was never satisfied. She could be ready in a single second and her mom would still say they're late. In fact, they aren't late at all, they are right on time but that didn't matter to her mom.

Taking a glance at herself in her vanity mirror, Liza decided she was ready for the day. She wore her everyday jeans and hoodie outfit with her chestnut brown hair straightened and her makeup just how she likes it. She was perfect for herself and that's all that mattered.

Getting up from her seat, Liza strolled over to her bedside where her bag and phone laid out for her. After she grabbed her stuff, she took a quick search around her room for anything she missed then headed downstairs before her mom blew a fuse.

When she reached the last step of the staircase, her mom was just looking up from her watch. Her face was almost the shade of firetruck red so Liza knew she must have been really mad. Her posture was stiff as if she had been waiting for a long time. As usual, her purse was perched on her shoulder and her large tumbler was in her hand probably about half empty by now.

Her mom sighed, "Let's go."

After making sure everything in the house was off, both left the house and got into Liza's mom's new white 2017 Chevy Equinox. To say her mother was proud of that car was an understatement. She always kept it shiny and new ever since she got it from the dealership. The car never had any sort of dirt or grime on it and always had that new car shine and smell. It was as if the car was brand new and not about two years old.

The car ride to Liza's school was completely silent. Personally to Liza, it felt extremely awkward. She was even too scared to move knowing that any sound would put her mother's attention on her.

Once the car pulled up to Liza's school, she got out with a quick and quiet 'goodbye'. As she watched her mother's car retreat from the parking lot, she sighed. She always wanted to have a good relationship with her mom especially since her dad is not in the picture. Her mom is literally all she has and she doesn't even know where they stand anymore. They used to have a great relationship but suddenly it just changed. Liza could admit that it a lot of it was her fault but she wished her mother wouldn't have pushed away too.

Sighing again, Liza decided to put all the negative thoughts away and just focus on school. Not that there was anything else she could do. Walking to the courtyard, she sat on one of the benches and grabbed the recent book she has been reading from her backpack. It's called The Loneliest Girl in The Universe by Lauren James. (AN: 10/10 recommend) It was beginning to become her all-time favorite books next to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Not only was the overall plot amazing but what particularly intrigued Liza was the setting of the book.

She didn't know how long she had been reading but the next thing she knew the bell for school was reading. After putting her book back in her bag, she got up from her seat and went inside the building with the rest of the students.

I hope my day was better than my morning, she thought.
