Chapter 2

The cafeteria was bustling with students. Some were waiting in the lunch line to get food while talking to their friends and not actually watching the line as it moves as fast as it could. Others were walking around the room saying 'hi' to different people or sitting down with their friends talking nonstop about this or that.

Liza, in particular, sat away from everyone else who shared the lunch period with her. No one even sat at the other end of the table she was at but she liked it this way. Being that she had no friends at school, she grew accustomed to being alone. Actually, Liza rather likes being alone. Sure she does get a little envious seeing her fellow students talk to their peers and have a real conversation but she rather be alone than be give weakness to anyone. Or at least that's what she thinks or made herself think.

Sighing, Liza tried to shake herself of her wandering mind and get back to her book but she just couldn't seem to concentrate. Ever since this morning, there has been a buzz around the school. Everyone, especially the girls, has been excited about something. Normally, Liza, being the ever most observant person in the school, would have heard the news by now but this time everyone seemed to be whispering instead of shouting from the top of the school. Liza was nervous and a bit anxious to know what was going on.

In the midst of her thinking, the cafeteria door opened. Everyone who had been talking almost immediately quieted and looked at the door simultaneously as if they had been anticipating this moment all their lives. Liza, being a step behind, looked at the door and almost gasped out loud. There, in the threshold, stood four of the hottest guys Liza had ever seen. They were all dark-haired except for one who was blond and they all had extremely athletic bodies like they worked out every single day.

One guy though, most likely the leader of the group, stood out to Liza. He seemed to stand tallest of all the guys like he was above them in every way. His entire being screamed confidence and dominance over everyone in the room. It was like he ruled, he is the Alpha male. And for some reason, Liza was drawn to him like never before. Every time she even attempted to leave him, her gaze always strayed back to him.

After what seemed like forever, the leader set his eyes on an empty table and made his way to it with his friends in tow. Liza almost threw up considering the table he chose was the very one she was sitting at. What am I going to do, she wondered, do I just sit here and ignore them?

Deciding that was her best option, she went back to her book and pretended she was reading. It was hard considering that all she wanted to do was stare at that sex god who was about to sit not even ten feet away from her. When she heard the known sound of chairs scraping against the tiled floor, she looked so far into her book she was almost hiding in it.

Thankfully, everyone in the room started talking once more making the atmosphere less tense. Liza breathed deeply, hoping that no one was looking at her especially not the guys next to her. Sending a silent plea to God, Liza removed the book from her face.

Liza's eyes shifted to the right side of the table like she was compelled. As much as she willed herself not to look, it felt like she had no control of her own body. When her eyes met their destination she was stunned to see that he was already looking at her. Liza froze under the look he was giving her. It was intense as if he was trying to eat her with his eyes.

Liza immediately looked away with a heavy blush on her face. Why is he looked at me like that, she asked herself. It wasn't that she was a naive teenage girl but she had never had someone look at her like that. She never imagined that she would be at the end of a lustful and, dare she think, hungry look. It was extremely overwhelming for her to say the least.

She didn't know what to do after that incident so she decided to sit there and pretend that nothing happened. That she didn't see how he was looking at her. He'll find someone else, she thought, he doesn't need me and I damn sure don't need or want him.

When the school bell rang signaling the end of lunch, Liza was the first person out the room. She was overjoyed that the bell rang when it did for she didn't think she could handle it anymore.

"Hey!" She heard as she walked down the hallways but simply ignored it. She didn't think anyone could be talking to her since no one has before. Instead, she kept walking down the hallway and on to her next class of the day.

(AN)

So I feel like it's been a hot minute, even though it's only been a couple days but so much has happened since the last time I posted! I started school which is fun (hear my sarcasm) and I started my first job! I'm excited to finally be independent and doing something with my life besides school! I will try to update as much as I can but hopefully, things will not clash too much!

Anyway, how are you guys doing? I hope you guys are doing great!
