Fifteen Years Ago: (2005)

Chapter One:

As my teacher wrote on the board, well, at least I think she was doing. But as she wrote

on the board, I slumped down on my chair hoping she wouldn't call on me.

"Uhmmm.... Mariana!" She called.

I couldn't see but I could tell she was smirking. She hates kids. Me most of all. I don't

have any parents. She doesn't believe me that I'm blind. She thinks I'm lying to try and

get out of work.

"Mariana dear." She said bittersweet. "Why don't you come up to the board and SOLVE

this problem."

Everyone in the room started giggling. I was nervous. I got up and walked to the board.

I accidentally bumped into someone's desk.

"Hey! Watch were you're going, freak!" A girl said to me.

"I'm so sorry. It was an accident." I said softly.

"No, you were an accident!" She snapped back.

Everyone started laughing.

I found my way to the board and picked up the marker. I didn't know what the problem

was so I asked Mrs. Dalrymple if she could please tell me.

"Dork." Someone coughed.

Everyone laughed.

Mrs. Dalrymple sighed. "Eight hundred times fifty." She said.

"Oh, that's easy. It's forty thousand." I said relieved that I knew that so I wouldn't have

to write it on the board.

"Write it." She snapped.

"Nerd!" Someone coughed.

Everyone laughed.

"But I don't know what numbers look li...."

"I said WRITE it!" She snapped cutting me off.

"Loser!" Someone coughed.

Everyone laughed again.

Tears were swelling up in my eyes. I didn't blink so the tears would hold back. I started

to write it and right away everyone started laughing. Tears streamed down my face.

"Silence!" My teacher snapped.

"Mariana Grace this is not acceptable! You can't just dilly dally you way out of work by

lying about not being able to see."

"But I..."

"Unacceptable!" She snapped cutting me off again.

Tears were swelling up in my eyes. Hot tears streamed down my face.

"Leave my classroom now." She spitted.

"But Mrs. Da...."

"NOW." She said sounding annoyed.

I put down the marker and walked towards the door, well what I thought was the door.

Everyone laughed.

"Other way doofus!" Someone said laughing.

I turned around. People were muttering rude comments as I walked past them.

Someone threw a spitball at me. I left and ran as fast as a could out of the building.

I sat near a bush at the side of the building and cried.....
