Chapter 11

Down The Rabbit Hole

I had a new theory on where the entrance to the chamber might be, but it took a few days for me to find a way to sneak away when no one was looking. The night that I chose, something happened, though the teachers didn't tell the students exactly what. I left Spencer and Jackie out of it, just incase I was right, and snuck away once I knew everyone was asleep. With how easy it was to avoid the prefects and teachers, I wondered if they were even watching the hallways anymore. I was almost to the out of order bathroom that belonged to the long dead Moaning Myrtle, when I saw the writing on the wall; it had been added on to.

Her Skeleton shall lie in the Chamber forever.

I heard the shuffling of feet and glanced toward the bathroom with a frown, before glancing inside just in time to watch Ron shove Lockheart down a secret passage that had been revealed under the sinks. They were about to go down after him when I pushed the door open, causing them to turn around. I walked over to the passage and glanced down with a frown. " So, you found it. Nicely done."

" Look Emrys, I get that you want to help put a stop to this, but-"

" Its dangerous." I said finishing for him. " I get that. I might be a Slytherin, but I'm no coward, Harry. While we waste time, Ginny might be dying."

" Ginny? How.." Ron started to say but trailed off as I jumped into the pipe. I nearly knocked Lockheart over as I landed, but he stumbled out of the way before staring at me in confusion. " Miss Riddle?" He said in confusion before Harry and Ron joined us. I glanced around with a frown before pulling out my wand and muttering. " Lumos." A bright light illuminated the tip of it and I turned to face Harry and Ron as they did the same.

" Remember, any sign of movement, shut your eyes immediately." Harry told us.

We started down the tunnel, but were stopped when Ron spotted something very large sitting further ahead of us. It was the skin of a really, really, really big snake. We stepped closer to get a look at it, but stopped when Lockheart suddenly collapsed to the ground. Ron told him to get back up, and as he did, he tackled Ron to the ground and snatched his wand from hand.

" The adventure ends here. I shall take a piece of this skin back up to the school. Tell them I was to late to save the girl, and that you three tragically lost your minds at the sight of her mangled body. Say goodbye to your memories." He told us and my eyes narrowed as he raised Ron's wand and cried. " Obliviate!" A bright light filled the small space around us and I shut my eyes when it became to much. Harry yanked backwards and my eyes flew open as a piece of the ceiling nearly crushed me. When the dust cleared, a wall rock separated us from Ron and Lockheart.

" Ron? Ron, are you okay?" Harry cried.

" I'm here." Ron called out in response from the other side." I'm okay. This git isn't, he got blasted against the wall." We heard Lockheart cry out and I smirked. The idiot disserved it

" What now? We can't get through, it'll take ages."

Harry looked around he tried to figure it out and I let out a breath when Lockheart cried out again, before Harry said. " Wait there. Wait with Lockheart. We'll go on, if we're not back in an hour.." He trailed off and we shared a look.

" I'll try and shift some of this rock, so...so you can get back through." Ron told him.

We started down the tunnel again, and after a while the sound of Ron trying to move the rocks aside faded away in the silence. The tunnel seemed to go on forever before coming to a dead end at a large metal door covered in snakes. Harry and I shared a look, but as he started to step forward, I whispered. " Open."

Harry seemed to freeze as it the snakes began to move and pull back like some sort of large locking mechanism, before turning to face me with a pale face. " You..." He trailed off in disbelief and I looked away.

" Please...Please done be afraid of me." I pleaded quietly and he frowned. " Your the heir of Slytherin." He said and I nodded as tears threatened to fall.

" Did...Did you-"

" No." I said shaking my head. " I never hurt anyone. I was trying to find this place, just like you were. I've been trying all year to find it, to put a stop to it. I thought I was hearing things until..." I trailed off and Harry seemed to understand what I was trying to say.

" Why didn't you talk to me, after the dueling lesson?"

" I didn't know how you were going to react. You seemed to have enough on your plate, so I didn't say anything."

" How many people know?" He asked. " About you being the heir."

" My mum knows, she's the one that told me everything about it. My friends, I told them after the first attack. Dumbledore, and Snape... I think he does to. Hermione started to figure it out, but I don't think she knew everything."

" But, how can you be the heir? Your mum?"

" No." I responded shaking my head. " I swear though, after this is done, I will tell you everything and answer any questions that you have."

" We should go. Ginny needs us." Harry told me, seeming to agree for now and I nodded before following him through the large door.
