"Please?"
"No."
"Come on, Carls, you'll look amazing!"
"Vans, as much as I love you, there is no way, in a million years, will I ever wear makeup. It's too girly. And I DON'T do girly. You of all people should know that."
The blonde pouted; she knew her friend was a tomboy, but what was wrong with looking pretty? It doesn't hurt to wear a little makeup sometimes.
"Yeah, but think how much attention you'll get! Especially from Zach~"
Carly's face reddened at the thought. As much as she wanted to get his attention, she was NOT going to wear makeup to do so.
"Are you serious right now? Even if I dump a bucket of glitter on myself he still won't notice me!"
"That's cause you're too scared to admit your feelings to him!"
"I-I'm not!"
"Prove it; if you could at least wear some lipstick AND talk to Zach, you won't have to wear makeup ever again."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Then it's a deal." Vanessa held her hand out to the brunette, smiling.
Sighing to herself, the brunette took the blonde's hand, sealing her fate.
'I'm so going to regret this', Candy thought to herself as she shook Vanessa's hand.
———————————————————————————Carly took another look in the mirror, making sure the red lipstick was on just right. Vanessa had insisted it would compliment her skin tone, but she wasn't so sure about that. Thankfully, Vanessa said she should start off with lipstick; if anything else was involved she probably might've thrown herself out the window. She knew this could potentially end with her heart broken, but as her father always said: "No risk, no reward."
Sighing to herself, the brunette walked out of her bedroom, mentally preparing herself for possible heartbreak. This was like prepping up for a big game, only it was the game of love.
Hearing her phone buzz, Carly pulled it out to see a text message from Vanessa:
'BTW I told Zach to go over to your house. Your welcome~! :)'
'WHAT?!', Carly mentally screeched. She started to run back upstairs, but it was too late. She heard the door bell ring, and knew she was done for. 'Just get it over with', she told herself. If this ended with a broken heart, at least she'll have her friends to comfort her.
Taking a deep breath (and silently cursing Vanessa), Carly walked downstairs to greet Zach, ready to face her possible humiliation.
Looking at the door, Carly fought with herself before finally giving in and just throwing the door wide open, startling the person on the other side.
"Oh.. um.. Carly! It's nice to see you!"
Zach smiled warmly at Carly, easing the latter up a bit. 'At least he doesn't notice the lipstick yet... I hope!' Carly thought to herself. But then Zach leaned in a little closer, making the brunette sweat a bit.
"Are you... wearing lipstick?"
"U-um yeah... D-do you like it...?"
'That's it; I'm done for. Zach will laugh at me for being girly AND shy, and he'll probably tell his friends! I'll have to move to a new town, start a new name, and-'
"It looks beautiful on you."
'Wait, what?' Carly stared up at Zach in suprise and confusion, the latter's face turning a bit red at what he had just said.
"I-I mean, it's a nice color, and I think it really suits you."
Zach chuckled a bit and blushed while rubbing the back of his neck. Carly couldn't believe what she just heard; Zach actually liked her wearing makeup? Feeling her face turn bright red, Carly looked at the ground, silently begging for the Earth to just swallow her.
"W-well, it was Vanessa who said I should wear it, so I guess you can thank her."
Then, to her own shock, Zach slouched down and did the must unexpected thing ever: He kissed her.
It was short, sweet, and Carly loved every bit of it.
Pulling away, Zach gave her that warm smile once more, and said, "Well you should listen to your friend more. She has great taste."
Blushing and smiling as well, Carly nodded.
"Yeah, I guess she does."
