Black Blood( book 2) Anna's story

Chapter 2 : Stomach Ache.

          "Some hurts heal,
            Some heals hurt."      

The three of us were siting in an ice cream parlour after ordering our desired ice creams. When father spoke up.
"So when are you planning to inform me about the meeting?" My eyes widen for a while so the pricipal has called him. Smart.
"Anytime you want?" I smirk at him.
"This is the third time. Tell me whats wrong with that bill?"
"He kind of has a face that asks me to throw something at it everytime I see him." I reply in a careless tone and the waiter arrives with our ice cream. Lee excitedly serves the ice cream to us.
"Anna you need to stop it before you get expelled. I don't want to hear anything like this again. Understand??"
"Okay father." I say in a robotic supressed voice.
Then I start eating, we've been coming to the same parlour for years now. Father often brings us here after school. And we talk about our lives.
"So father how was your day at the hospital?"
"I was late again. It was the same otherwise."
"Late why??" I said. father looked over the place to make sure no one was listening then he leaned forward and wisperred.
"I'm working on something important in my own lab."
"Is that a special medicine?" Lee asked
"Yes and a bright future for my kids."
He winked at us. He's been working for over six months now. He is always in his lab. Sometimes he even skips dinner. I always ask my mother to call him but she never calls him out. She says he's busy and he does'nt need to come amd eat with us daily. We should Let him do his work. And there are days when they send us to the neighbours for dinner and work together. Mother says they are doing some kind of research. I sometimes feel ignored but I don't show it because I'm Lee's big sister. I am brave and I know our parents love us.

When we reach home a blue bicycle comes in view parked outside the gate. I wonder who's bike is that? It's not the same bike as my father's friend. It seems strange.
After parking the car we wait for the door to open. My mom. Rosaline Montegral opens the door. Her hair tied in a bun. Her dark brown eyes wide in concern.
"Gregory. You're late again. I have my shift I need to leave in an hour. And the food is'nt ready. "
"My dear wife. No greetings at all?"
My mother ignores his gesture
"Hey kids how have you been?" She kisses us both on our cheeks and bends a little to take our bags. We step inside our wooden house.
"Lee you go and change and Anna there's your friend waiting for you in the lounge. I'm glad you made a new friend."
A new friend?? Waiting for me?? I did'nt make any new friends. Who was this?? I must go and check. How can someone lie their way in my house. Whoever it is, I'll make sure he regrets it. I hurry towards the lounge to find out a guy sitting in the sofa with a book in his hand. He gets up on seeing me.
"Hey I'm Lev. You dropped this today at school. I could'nt find you the whole day so I came over at your house to give it back. I live nearby. I hope you don't mind?"
I take in his words, analyzing his expressions and face. He is the same tall guy from the school, I collided with earlier.
"Umm okay thanks." I take the book from his hands. It's my geography course book. I have been searching it the whole day too.
"There's this park two miles away from your home. I play there with my friends. You can also come if you want to. It's five in the evening." He looked at me for an answer.
"Depends."
"On what?"
"On your favourite game."
"It' badminton."
Wait badminton? It's my favourote too.
"I'm in." I half smile at him.

After having lunch. Mom went off to her shift. She is a nurse and Works in the same hospital as my father.
We three were still round the table when Lee's stomach started aching. Lee had this problem for over a week now.
And he crossed his arms over it.
"Is it hurting again?" Father asked.
"Ye-s" lee replied in a low voice.
Father then got up picked lee up, with Lee's head on his shoulder father said.
"Come on in the lab."
Then we all got up and went to the lab. Father's lab is located underground in our backyard he has kept it for personal work.
We first opened the steel cabinet shaped door to enter then there were some stairs after that a door came with a security lock. Father put his finger on the security screen, it analyzed the print with a blue ray. Then the door opened.
Father motion me to sit on the wooden chairs. I do so. He settles Lee on the chair next to me.
"I'll make you a medicine. You'll be fine in no time." He ruffles his hair  And then he opens a cabinet and takes out a small syrup.
He feeds one spoon to Lewis.
"Now you're going to be fine. Just wait here."
Then father starts on preparing something scientific. Using cylindrical tubes, and some liquids.
"What are you making father?" I could'nt stop myself from asking.
"It's a cure for your brother lewis and all of us."
"But why for all? We don't have stomach aches." I say in a confused tone waiting anxiously for him to explain.
"Sure we are. But first we need to inject this in lewis. So that he's well."
He held up an injection filled with a peach coloured liquid. He had made medicine for lewis.
"Yess. I will. But won't it hurt?"
"Remember Anna cure comes after the hurt."
