Good Girl Chapter One:
I hurried down the long, crowed hallway. It was my first day of senior year and I just wanted to be done. I liked high school, but college would be even better. All of my friends would mock me whenever I said the "c" word. They just wanted to enjoy their last year as high schoolers.
I walked into my first period, AP Lit with Mr. Jones. I had him in 10th grade and he was one of my favorite teachers. As soon as the bell rang he handed out packets and handouts for Senior Project. I already knew what I was going to do mine on, pediactric physical therapy That's what I wanted to do after high school and college.
"Alright class let's go over the packet then I'll hand out the first novel we will be reading-" just then the door swung open and the principle walked in with someone standing behind him. "Mr. Jones you have a new student." He said as the boy stepped out from behind him. He was tall with purple hair and an eyebrow piercing. He was wearing skin tight black jeans, a Green Day shirt, and a leather vest. He had on about 100 bracelets and a pair of black combat boots. I couldn't help but stare. He turned in my direction and smirked when he saw me staring. I quickly (and awkwardly) turned away.
"This is Michael Clifford he is new to our school." Mr. Jones said as the principle left. We all smiled and said hello. He was still looking right at me. He looked like trouble and I did not need any trouble this year. "Michael you can sit..." Please not next to me not next to me. I thought. "Right here." He said pointing to the desk right across from mine. At least he isn't next to me... I thought as I got out my binder.
After lit I hurried out of the classroom trying to avoid talking to that Michael guy. I went to my locker and then headed to my next class. "Ellie!" I heard someone call from behind me.
I turned around to see one of my best friends, Kat.
"Hey! Where ya headed?" She asked.
"Forensics." I replied.
"Ah. Fun. I get to go to Algebra." She replied with a frown. Kat had short black hair and bright blue eyes. She was very tall, and very slim. She was always very loud and claimed to be a rebel, but if she was asked to skip class or something like that she would chicken out. I laughed to myself as we parted ways.
I walked into my class and Mrs. Johnson gave me a piece of paper.
"This is your seat and lab partner." She smiled.
"Thanks." I said as I looked down at the card. "Row 2. Lab Partner: Michael C." I read to myself. "Michael.. no please no." I mumbled as I looked up at my seat. Sure enough there he was. He was looking in his bag, but I could tell it was him because of his bright purple locks.
I huffed as I walked over to my seat. I sat down and adjusted my light blue top and smoothed out my floral skirt. I got out my books and started writing the warm up down. Michael hadn't said a word yet. I didn't want to talk to him, but the silence was killing me.
"Hey you're the new kid right?" I asked turning to face him. He looked up at me with his light green, almost gray, eyes.
"Yeah. I'm Michael." He said in surprisingly an Australian accent. "
I'm Ellie. It's nice to meet you." I smiled as I went back to writing. He scooted his stool closer to me. I fidgeted in my seat and scooted away from him.
"Sorry. Just trying to see the board." He huffed turning away from me.
"No I just-" I started, but then he glared at me and I stopped mid sentence. I didn't mean to make him mad... Maybe he was just a grumpy guy...
At the end of the day I met Kat at my locker as usual. We always road home together because we lived right next door to each other. Maybe that's why we're such good friends. We've grown up together. I wanted to ask her about Michael. I wanted to know what she thought of him. I didn't know why I was so infatuated with him, I didn't like him.. or did I?
"Did you meet the new kid?" Kat asked taking a sip of her water.
"What?" I replied. I wasn't expecting her to ask about him.
"Did you meet Michael? Michael Clifford?" She repeated herself.
"Oh. Yeah. He's in two of my classes." I replied.
"He looks like trouble." Kat said opening her pack of M&M's.
"Yeah he does." I said. "His hair is kinda cool." I continued.
"Yeah if you're like.. emo or something." Kat replied with a laugh. I rolled my eyes as we pulled into her driveway I dropped her off and drove home. I hopped out of the car and lugged all of my things into the house.
I was greeted by my sister. Well, if you consider being pushed out of the way a greeting. She was the star of my family. She had graduated high school an all A+ student. She was the valedictorian and everything. But there was one thing, she was a total bitch. To everyone. Her teachers, her friends, random people, and me. But my parents see no wrongs in her. To them, she's perfect. I don't understand it. Maybe it's because she's an angel around them, but the devil to everyone else.
"Hey mom. Hey dad." I said as I entered the kitchen.
"Hey Eleanor. How was your day?" My dad asked.
"It was good. And please don't call me Eleanor.." I replied. I hated my real name. That's why everyone I knew calls me Ellie.
"Sorry Ellie." He smiled as I grabbed a granola bar. I was just about to walk upstairs when my mom stopped me.
"Wait just a minute! I want to hear all about your first day of senior year!" she exclaimed.
"Well I-"
"MOM! I can't get online to turn in my paper! Its due today!" My sister screamed. She was taking online classes this year so she could "spend more time with her family", but I know that she just wanted to stay so she could keep banging her douchbag of a boyfriend Jacob. Thats another thing mom and dad didn't know about Lily.
"Sorry hun. We'll talk later okay?" my mom said as she hurried out of the room. I nodded and headed up to my room. My sister and I used to share a room, but now I get the attic. I know. That sounds horrible. Its actually not bad. Its like my little escape from... well... my family.
I sat on my bed and finished up my homework. Then I went to take a shower. I stepped in and the warm water streamed down my body. I did a lot of deep thinking in the shower. I wonder what Michael's family is like... I thought. Ew gross.. Stop thinking about him while taking a shower. I continued thinking, but everything was about Michael. I didn't like him.. I was just curious.
After my shower I got in my pajamas and climbed under my warm covers. I would go say goodnight, but they would be too busy with Lily.. So instead I turned on some music, turned off my lamp, and slowly drifted off to sleep...
