Smith slowly walked through the hall way with one hand in his pocket and the other rubbing his forehead for a while as he thought about who was behind the whole locker issue. He walked back to the locker and opened it completely, he picked up the letter and read it to himself;“Be careful?!”
“What’s this even supposed to mean? Could someone be after him or could it just be a prank?” Smith soliloquized.
“But what kind of prank could this be? Maybe the person is trying to lead him somewhere… Or maybe to something. I must get to the bottom of this” he said again in soliloquy, with his brows puckered into a frown of deep thought.
It takes a mile to want, but it takes many more to achieve or get it, and Smith was very well aware of that. So he knew what he would go through just to find the little snake that always crawled its way into Carter’s locker and out.
He closed the locker on his way back to the gym, where he left his bag, then he realised he had left Janet there on her own. He begun to run again, hoping he would meet her there.“Oh… Damn you Carter” he said with a shallow voice, on getting to the gym and not meeting Janet.
“Well, there are many more of her kind out there” he confidently said as he picked his bag and chuckled on his way out of the gym and to Carter’s house.
As he walked out of the school, he came across a purse. It looked like a female purse he thought, he walked up to it and it picked it.“This is where I bumped into Angela… Could be hers” he said as he opened up the purse.
“Let’s see what’s in here…”
He saw a hard drive and wondered why it was so well packaged.
“Well…”
He was about putting it back into the purse when his phone begun to ring. It was his dad, so he stuffed the purse as well as the hard drive into his bag and begun to rush home.
“What do you mean?” Carter asked Mr. Green“I don’t know if I am the only one that sees things this way, but I feel Christine’s death still has a lot of pot holes that need to be filled” Mr. Green replied after taking a sip of wine.
He continued;
“I mean think about it, will she just kill herself after one quarrel?”
“There are many things about that day I have been asking myself that no one has yet seen… One of them being Angela’s location after their little fight and during Christine’s suicide. Sounds very strange to me…” Mr. Green said
Carter’s Adam’s apple danced as he swallowed his saliva out of shock of what he was hearing. He stood up out of disbelief, his right leg wobbled a little as he lost his balance while standing up but stopped himself.
“Goodbye Mr. Green… Thanks for the hospitality” He said as he turned around, leaving the sitting room on his way home.Carter was sitting on the sidewalk of Becker Street a few kilometres from his home. He was totally unsure of what to feel at this moment, lost in his thoughts, he could barely hear the voices of people that passed by;
“He looks so miserable” they said
“Does he need help?” some said, tossing him some coins. Others just laughed and passed.
All they could see was a sad or confused boy on the street, they had no idea what he what position he was in, at the moment. There was a very loud thunder clap, loud enough to bring Carter back to the present hour. It was about raining, and the clouds, looking very heavy, totally blocked out the rays of the sun and rendered everywhere dark and cold. It was time to go home, or at least find shelter.
