[Okay I'm warning you I wrote the lyrics for the song in this chapter and lemme tell you they're probably awful. I write stories, not sing songs. Also I can't compose music so think of any tune you want. Idk I'm just the author ¯\_(ツ)_/¯]

Shindou's POV

"Okay class, this is a rather exciting music project. You'll be working together to write a song together, and then you'll perform it in front of the class. You'll have 3 weeks to work on this project Right, here are the pairs: Tenma and Aoi, Shindou and Y/n, blah blah blah..." I zoned out after she said me and Y/n. Y/n has been my best friend for about 6 years now, and now I get to work with her for 3 weeks! Usually we aren't allowed to sit together because we talk to much. "Hey Shindou, looks like you're stuck with me for this." She gave me her usual bright smile. "At least it's you and not someone else. Do you want to come round my house after school to start it?" "Yeah, sure."

"So, what should the theme of the song be about?" "Why not a song about friends? Y'know, cos we're best friends and all." [Ouch, Shindou got best friend zoned. Harsh dude] "Sure, sound great." Outside, I was fine, on the inside, I was crying. I got best friend zoned... ;-; "Why don't you play the piano for it? I know how good you are at composing music." "Alright, you wanna work on some lyrics?" "Yep!"

I heard Y/n humming to herself every now and then, and I tried to use the tunes in the piece. She'd do stuff like scribble something  out, tap a tune, laugh at something and mutter 'Oh god so cringy', and I found it pretty entertaining. "Hey, I think I got a verse here, finally." She muttered the last part but I heard. "Oh good, what do you think of the music so far?" "It's sounding great, I think the lyrics work well so far. Let's try it." I nodded, and I began to play, and Y/n began to sing

"Woah..." I never knew Y/n could sing so well! "What? Is it bad?" "Huh? No, it's amazing! I just never knew how well you could sing." "Aw, thanks Shindou! Y'know, I was thinking of calling the song You are You. What do you think?" "Sounds good to me. C'mon, let's keep going."

Performance day.. I'm nervous. "My god Shindou you look so tense. Loosen up, there's only like 30 people to perform for. I know [hold on a sec guys my leg really hurts aaaahahsajdshiwpvhu23;HUI WBTOHFN83AGYUQH CNOXR;JUIO okay it's fine now continue] you've performed for at least 500 people before." "I know, it's not that, I just wonder if our song is any good?" "Shindou, the song is fine, honestly." "If you say so..." "Y/n, Shindou, it's your turn! Good luck!" I took a deep breath. Here goes nothing...

I began to play as Y/n began to sing.

Once we finished the room erupted into applause, and Y/n turned to me. "You're my best friend, and nothing will ever change that." I grinned. "Thanks Y/n."

Wow I can't write songs. That took forever to come up with and it's terrible. Oh well, I hope you guys enjoyed. It wasn't romantic, but I wanted it to be a friendship thing. That's all for now, love you all, bye!
