When Alden Richards finally got the recognition that eluded him for years in the business, the offers and endorsements came unexpectedly. His fortunes were reversed for the better and he did what was expected, which is to make the most of the opportunities landing his way. For people who have followed him since he started his career, they knew that Alden deserved all his blessings. Fortunately, Alden remains humble despite the temptations surrounding his career.

As a good actor, Alden takes his role in front of the cameras professionally. If he needs to go dramatic, he will shed a tear or so. If he has to do comedy, he will deliver. In short, he gives what is needed when cameras start rolling. This attitude won him his fans that eventually paved the way for his success. However, when the cameras stop rolling, Alden shuts off to himself and the role he plays ends.

Not many know about that side of Alden, and Maine Mendoza has had enough and has opted to face the truth. Whenever Maine and Alden are in front of the cameras, expect Alden to play his sweet role to the point that even ants will gravitate toward the couple. Maine tries to be natural and reciprocates Alden's oncam actions. Then, when the time is over, Alden retreats to his world, moves on to his other commitments, and thus, leaving no time to bond with Maine.

On her part, Maine has tried to be close to Alden, but they are really different. Maine likes to hangout and go to various places, whereas Alden prefers to be with his more mature friends, comprising people from various persuasions, such as politicians, gays, matrons, etc. Even if Maine would want to spend time to get to know Alden better when the cameras are off, there is no opportunity or worse, Alden might not really be interested in Maine. Thus, her efforts are futile.

Naturally, Maine would try to make friends with other celebrities, as it is her nature to be friendly. However, once some fans notice that she is spending time with another male colleague, they start bombarding social media with bashing as to why she is not with Aldeb. Then, they move on to the social media account of that new friend and pulverize this personality. Worse, some fans even create stories to besmirch the reputation of that person. Maine has expressed that the situation has gotten so bad that she has lost privacy and fans have become intrusive in her private affairs. Some fans even curse, bash, and post cruel messages addressed to her. Moreover, Maine has lamented that Alden is not subjected to the same meddling as she is experiencing.

To release some steam, Maine tried to set the record straight, as she wanted people to see that like other popular loveteams, they do not have to be a real couple. While open-minded fans supported her, others continued to lambast her. The other reason why Maine had to express her feelings is that she does not want her New Friend (Jake Ejercito) to be subjected to the bashing. Although Maine and Jake are not officially together (yet), they hit it off. Maine felt good about Jake, as they do have things in common outside of showbiz. However, developments have led Jake to already feel the wrath of fans, and even the ire of someone close to him. Just as Jake was ironing a previous relationship, Maine entered his life and thus, his focus was now with Maine than with someone in his past.

As to how things will play out, only the ratings and frequency of endorsements could probably gauge if Alden and Maine still have the magic. For now, Maine needs a bit of space to breathe in and out and face who she really is.
