"Hey, where's my order?"
"Sorry, it's on its way."
"Hey waitress, can I get a refill on my drink, please."
"Sure, as soon as I'm done with another order."
"What about us!?"
"I'll be right there."
I rushed into the Restuarant, struggling to catch my breath.
"I'm here! Sorry!"
"Hurry up and get dressed. I need help with these orders."
"G-got it!"
I did as I was told and got myself into my chef gown. I rushed back out to get a handful of orders done while Mabel was cooking.
"Here's your order."
"Thank you."
"Here's your refill, sir."
"Thanks, bro."
"Here's your food."
"Finally!"
After a while, Mabel and I rotated our jobs. Every 30 minutes, I would cook and she serves and vice versa. It took hours to get every order done; the restaurant kept filling in with hungry people.
"Thank you. Hope you enjoyed your meal."
The last customer left. The place afterward looked like a memory of elephants and a clan of hyenas had a huge bar fight.
"Jeez, this is gonna be a hassle to clean up..."
"Mr. Yamada!"
"Huh?"
*BANG*
"OW! What the hell was that for?!"
"Where the hell were you when I needed you!? You said you would be here early!"
"I'm sorry. Ok? I just got caught up in something."
"Screwed that! I worked my ass off while you were gone!"
She looked at me, furious. I was on the ground holding my head from her power, Hulk-like slap. She then sighed and grabbed my hand to help me up.
"Sorry, ok?"
"No, it's my fault."
"Damn right, it is."
Do what was the point of saying sorry.
"Augh...nevermind."
"Here..."
She gave me some paper towel.
"...you got some ketchup on your gown."
"Oh..."
I try to wipe it up. This is going to cost me to clean this.
"Hey, Takashi..."
"Yeah..."
"........nothing."
She turned away, holding her arm. She seemed to be blushing.
"Anyway, come on. Let's get this place cleaned up. I'll do the dishes. It's the least I can do to make up for being late."
"Ok..."
We spent the next hours cleaning up the cafe. After we were done, we chilled in the employee lounge.
"Mabel. I have something to show you."
"What?"
I took out the box and letter from my pocket. I placed it on the table in front of me while Mabel stared at it.
"So what is it?"
"I don't know. I got yesterday. Read the letter."
"Ok..."
She grabbed the letter and proceeded to read it. She then looked the box, curiously.
"Hhmm...I'm going to open it."
She quickly reached for the box, ready to open, annoying ALL the possible dangers that might come from this.
"Hey, no!"
"Too late."
She opened the box and I immediately took cover.
"So..."
"So what? It's just an SD chip."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Labeled, "directions."
I got up and took the chip.
"Directions to what?"
"I don't know, but I want to find out."
"Tomorrow. We'll find out tomorrow. Now, let's go home. I'll close down."
"Alrie."
After a while, I was walking home. The cold breeze of the night hit my face. A kind of feeling that made you cringe for warmth. But that feeling made me realize the situation I was in. There was not a soul around. The atmosphere quickly became eerie. I know it was nighttime, but not even a cab was around. I felt danger. An abnormal danger. Then it happened.
*SHRZZZZZZXT*
"What the...?"
*BOOM BOOM BOOM*
"A blackout?"
One by one, every block was engulfed by darkness, until the whole city was pitch black.
"What the hell?"
