A Rose with Thorns

Chapter 3

The Start

(Rose's POV)

"Rose please talk to me!" Lani said as I walked away. She kept following me. "Rose!" Lani said as she grabbed my arm.

"What?" I said not looking at her.

"I'm sorry. You know it's what I had to do. He was a villain. It's our job." No, it's not, I thought. It's yours, not mine. I wanted to tell her. I thought I could trust her, but I can't.

"I had to-"

"No, you didn't!" I yelled. I looked at her with tears in my eyes. "Just leave me alone." I yanked my arm out of her grasp. I walked away as she just stood there. I went into an empty classroom and sighed. 

"Why did you have to leave me?..." I whispered. I closed my eyes. I opened them and looked up. Trying to stop my tears. "Ok... I just have to make it through the rest of the day." I sighed. "This should be easy."

 I opened the door. I smelled something, like smoke. I ran into the hallway where the lockers are. Everything was on fire. I ran to the front door. I dodged a pillar that fell over. I stopped in my tracks. 

There was Lani, On the ground. Her leg looked like it was broken. 

She was helpless.
