(19) Geoffrey Part 2

"Step right up one and all. I welcome you to the biggest tourist attraction in North America... The Monstrous Creek," the man with the monotone voice introduced the latest batch of guests as they came blasting through the black barbed gate. Press had been putting newspaper adverts across the world and excitement had been building for quite some time. This entire exhibit (The Monstrous Creek) was meant to create a high fear factor and high excitement haunted house experience. All around were once humans who were turned into monsters through exposure to the government's latest toxin and now it was time to put all that effort into a feasible benefit, at least in their eyes.

Day 1 hadn't been particularly packed with just a few small groups coming through the gates and all getting personally guided through the creek by The Unknown. But, as news started to spread of the real life monsters at the attraction crowds began to grow and money started to funnel in. The trees had been mutated through various experimentations to grow as tall as the clouds and cover the skyline to give the entire area a feeling of enclosure. Plum and Timothy had been guaranteed off to opposite parts of the attraction so that they couldn't organize an escape plan. The Unknown and Chief had narrowed Marissa's location down to Greenland and Martin had attempted to send a letter over as a plea for her to save them but it was confiscated before it escaped the creek.

"At this rate we might need to get those untransformed onto the workforce! What a crowd today," Francis called out to his colleagues who were stationed at different portions of the attraction. The original plan called for taking the untransformed back into Forestville, but for fear of them spoiling the news and how their friends needed saving, they were kept in the creek at all times. Plum and Timothy were given small places underground at either side of the lake in glass boxes with basic food and water. They were all designed to mimic the original safe that the botanist's club stayed in. Some visitors even made stories up about how the people underneath the lake fell into the lore of the attraction but all claims of their existence were denied by The Unknown.

"That is too risky Francis we need to keep them in their place. We can't afford a breakout, especially with all the money we are accumulating," responded the monotone voiced man. He seemed to take his job more serious than most of the workforce although Francis just did it for the money. Claims of the monsters were enough to take the money right out of anybody's pocket. The Chief occasionally even dressed up to hide his physical appearance and took the money from those it considered it's workers. This resulted in yet another controversy of who the mysterious 'clothing man' was. The problem was when it got to the point where journalists would come to investigate the legends of the area, but those who talked with The Unknown or Chief didn't seem to ever get their stories out or return home for that matter.

Once Geoffrey was above ground and got a full view of the attraction, his friends were being used as puppets without pay or any safety precautions. If anybody of the former search party was disobedient they would be sent away to a room filled with transformation toxin that would constantly transform those in the room until they screamed in pain. Although, if Francis was assigned to handle the chamber he usually let the prisoners off easy with only a few seconds. Geoffrey probably should've planned his landing port beforehand since he collided directly into the room with his elevator breaking the ceiling. He detached himself from the elevator and was immediately subject to the room's toxins.

"Intruder alert! I repeat. Intruder alert at the toxin room," Francis whispered into the walkie talkie...
