In a small village a girl was waiting,
Where everyday seemed so frustrating.
She didn't fit in and people knew it
Talking behind her back; it never seemed to quit
But truly they were jealous that she had a passion,
As their days were normally boring and ashen.
And this girl wanted nothing more
Than to be loved and to be adored.
She read many books of love and romance,
Yet no one seemed to give her a second glance.
Except for this boy who with her was completely smitten;
But he was rude, unrefined, a book so simply written.
He wasn't a challenge nor did he care
About the girl's feelings; only that her looks were extremely fair.
He wanted a wife who would sit on his lap;
To never talk back and feed him at a finger's snap,
To give him children to carry on the name;
To him, most certainly not her, it was a game.
While the girl had her fantasies, they would never be true,
For her family was struggling; their bills were due.
And this man had money and was very rich:
He promised if she married him, he'd get them out of their ditch.
The girl couldn't bear to see her family as they were,
So in a decision that seemed to be made with a vision that was blurred,
It was sadly and very unhappily arranged
That she married this man to not be estranged,
With the deal of giving her a few years
To overcome her inhibitions and fears.
And that time was running very short;
In a few months she'd be legally wed in court.
But still she felt the same:
This man was not all he claimed.
Yet right now in time,
A new problem seemed to arise:
Her brother was missing since the beginning of last night;
They had hoped he hadn't gotten into another fight.
He was involved with bad people they told him not to stay around,
Yet he hadn't listened, and now he was crowned
As a member of their group:
Liars, menaces, now his life was a loop
Of humiliation, of exile,
And his sister? Well, she was quite guile;
She'd kept him out of trouble thus far,
But unfortunately she was running out of wishes on her star. . .
