Ayumi heard the doorbell ring, and it took her a while to place the sound in her head.
“Doorbell..” she mumbled, and got up to check who was at the door.
In front of her was an unknown face. “Do you need something..?” she mumbled.
Yoshiki’s heart lit up. He finally, finally found her. “Shinozaki!” he almost shouted, overjoyed and pulled her into a hug.
The sudden action suprised her and left her confused. She sensed a familair warmth but couldn’t place it. “W-who are you..? And how do you know my name..?”
“It’s me.. I’m Yoshiki Kishinuma.. I used to be your classmate and best friend.” he said, not letting go from the hug.
“Ki… shi.. numa…? I’m sorry.. but I don’t recognize the name..” she mumbled.
Yoshiki pulled away from the hug.
“I don’t care if you don’t recognise me.. I’m just so glad I finally found you.”
“You were looking for me..? Why?” she asked.
“I promised I’d protect you forever.” he said.Ayumi’s heart started beating faster at those word. They made her feel at ease.
“Now I know you’re alright, I guess I can go.” he said, turning around to leave.
Ayumi grabbed his sleeve.
“Something wrong..?” Yoshiki asked.
Ayumi’s uncovered eye had it’s motion back and tears were streaming down from both eyes.
“Please… Don’t leave me.. Kishinuma-kun..” she whispered, just loud enough to hear.
She pulled him into a hug and buried her face in his chest. “..Please..”
Yoshiki felt a tear streaming down his face. “Don’t worry, Ayumi.. I’ll never let you go, ever..”
After the heart warming embrace, Ayumi stepped back. A familair twinkle returned in her eye. “Want to come in for a cup of tea?”
Yoshiki knew he had a job to attend, he wanted to spend more time with Ayumi. “I’d love to.” he smiled.
