*Adriana's POV*

Ring! Ring! Ring! I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock ringing. It's 6:30 in the morning and it's time to get up for the first day of high school. I pulled my covers up so it covered my face. I didn't want to get up for school. Why couldn't summer last forever? I closed my eyes and hoped that today would go away. Soon enough, my little sister Sophia walked into my room and started shaking my arm. "Adriana, time to get up for school! You need to get up! Stop being a lazy pants! Come on!" she shouted. I finally got up. "Sophia, what are you doing?" I asked my sister. "I'm waking you up for school, duh! And you're the oldest of the family! Even Amanda knows I'm waking you up for school! You must have become seriously dumb in your sleep!" Sophia said. Amanda is the youngest child of the family. Today is her first day of kindergarten and today is Sophia's first day of 3rd grade. As you can tell, Sophia was really immature and irritating. I don't know how Mom deals with her. I was at my last straw then. I jumped out of my bed and chased her around my room. "Catch me if you can!" Sophia exclaimed. "Oh, I'll catch you!" I muttered under my breath. I was in the middle of chasing Sophia until my mom walked into my room. "What are you two girls doing? Both of you should be getting ready for school! Sophia, get into your room and start getting dressed! You too, Adriana! Amanda is eating breakfast downstairs." my mom said. Sophia gave me a dirty look before she walked out of my room and started getting ready for school in her room. I rolled my eyes, took a deep breath, threw on some clothes and ran downstairs to get some breakfast. I came downstairs to see Sophia eating a waffle and Amanda eating a bowl of Cheerios. She was crying and whining. I couldn't stand it when Amanda whined. She is only 5 but still! "But Mommy, I don't want to go to school! I want to stay home!" Amanda whined. "Amanda, you're a big girl now and you need to go to school like a big girl. Look at Adriana and Sophia, they're going to school without complaining! If you want to be a big girl like them, you need to go to school." my mom told Amanda. "Fine," Amanda pouted. "Mommy, I'm done with my Cheerios." Amanda said. "I'll get your bowl, sweetie. Sophia, put your plate in the sink. Adriana, you need to get to the bus stop. I need to drive your sisters to school." my mom said. "Ok, Mom. I'll see you later." I replied. "Adriana, shouldn't you eat something?" my mom asked. "I'll be fine, Mom." "Are you sure? It's your first day, honey. You need to eat something." my mom said. "It's ok, Mom. I'm serious. I have to catch the bus now. Bye!" I ran out the door and walked to the bus stop. Who needs breakfast anyway? I met my best friend Destiny at the bus stop. "Hey, Adriana! How was your summer?" Destiny asked. I don't know how Destiny managed to be so energetic on the first day of school. "Good, I guess. I wish  summer lasted much longer. I swear, I'm lucky I survived this morning. Sophia is so annoying." I said. "Aw, she's so cute! How old is she now?" "She's turning 9 in April." "How weird to think we're actually teenagers now! I remember when we were Sophia's age and playing tag on the playground." Destiny sighed. We met in the beginning of 1st grade and we've been best friends ever since. I saw the bus come down the block. When it stopped I walked toward the bus but tripped and fell on my way to the door. "Ow!" I exclaimed. My eyes were closed but I felt an unfamiliar hand pick me up. It pulled me up and I opened my eyes.
