Lance awoke to an odd feeling. He had rolled over, leaving his inured side exposed. The odd feeling was that it didn't hurt. It was uncomfortable maby but nothing terreble. Opening his eyes, he tyred to sit up although it was difficult after so long on a rock surfice. Wolden't you be stiff after a night sleeping on a hard rock? Well he was.

Finnaly getting to an agle where he could see his side, lance found it had been anointed with a stage blue Liquid that clung to his skin like congealed jelly. Looking about to find who had done this, his breath died in his throught and he froze.

Their, not two feet away from him, sat a majestic looking fire bird. He was looking down at the water with a look that lance couldn't place. Just as he was about to make a dive for the same water, the other boy spoke. "Why wold you do that?" He began though he didn't look up.

"What?" Lance seid, his voice a mix of fear and cureosity. "Just lie down on a rock out in the open" the fire bird answerd, announce on his tough. "The youngest of merpeople have better sense than that" he looked up then.
The firm feture lance was hit with was the boys Purple eyes. They were like deep caves of raw amathyst, gently sparkling but rough and dangerous to explore.

So lance stopped himself, opting to look back at his side. "Well, I wolden't have survived if I had kept going. What's it to you?" The brash tone even surprised himself considering what he was dealing with but he kept his face unwavering.

"Becuse I almost had your life last night." The bird admitted, his large Wings shifting behind him. Lance looked at him. His face was confused and concerned but it was soon coverd by a cocky sarcasem. "What? Did you come here so I could thank you for not killing me?" He seid, tone flat.

"No. A thanks for treating your wound wold be nice though."
Lance blinked. He bad treated his wound? Why? What could he stand to gain? Looking once again at his side, he poked at the goo on the cut. "mashed swallow clam and crushed sapphire. I have yet to find something it can't heal" keath remarked, answering the mermans silent question.

"Oh..." was all he could get out, looking back at the fire bird for what felt like the thousandth time. "Well...thanks"
