Eleven minutes before the call, I daydreamed about my mother coming back. If she'd come back sooner, maybe I wouldn't feel like this. What was this feeling? I didn't know. My insides were all twisted up. Maybe if she'd come back before Ben and I didn't really need her to be a mom anymore, I'd feel better. At least Ben would get two more years with Mom, with her taking care of him rather than the other way around.
