I Am Awkward

CHAPTER FIVE- CARIBBEAN BLUE

we walked into a little diner that smelled like burgers and bacon. everyone stared at me because of what i was wearing, i think i would have fit in better with my previous outfit. my new dress was Caribbean blue and short in the front but long in the back and strapless with a thin little black belt at my waist. i looked ready for the beach but i was in a fast food diner. "this is anything but classy." i whispered to Travis, he just smirked and sat down. 

"hi, can i take your- TRAVIS! man what are you doing here?" a young boy about Travis's age punched Travis.

"I'm on a date, Danny this is Katie, Katie Danny." he smiled at me then looked at Danny and whispered,"she hit me with a car." Danny started laughing and i just sat there blushing.  while Danny took our orders, Travis just smiled at me. 

"so, why did you go to fat camp?" Travis gazed at me with those beautiful eyes.

"well, i wanted to get away for the summer and i was chubby, so it was a perfect fit."

"hah ha! chubby! Katie you were tiny and now you are almost anorexic! do they even feed you, hey Danny,can we get another cheeseburger over her?"

"sure thing." Danny replied

"who is the extra burger for?" i said.

"well you of coarse, if they don't feed you at fat camp then i will! how much do you even weigh? actually that was rude, don't answer that.. sorry.." he sounded so sincere and i really didn't care if he knew how much i weighed.

"it's OK, its not like it is embarrassing or anything, i weigh 115 pounds. they are giving me more food now so i don't loose anymore weight." his eyes widened when i said my weight. 

"thats.. well thats tiny! but hey, i wont talk about it. so where do you live?" 

"i live in Florida, i drove here by myself." right then Danny brought us two burgers, one for him and one for me, and two slices of pizza for me.

"jeez, oink oink little piggy ha ha. enjoy." Danny said sarcastically

"hey Dan your shift is over in five minutes, come sit with us." Travis looked at Danny who was looking between the two of us. "yea Danny, you should hang out with us." i smiled at him as i said it, i didn't want Danny to think i didn't like him.

"OK, yea, ill be right back." he walked of behind the counter and disappeared. 

"I hope you don't mind, he's a really good friend and his girl just broke it off with him." i loved how caring Travis could be. "oh and when he comes back, don't mention his girl." i nodded my head.

Danny came back and sat next to me. "so hows everyone's night?" Danny had an adorable smile, and boyish features. his blonde hair looked like it was dyed and his eyes were the color of my dress- Caribbean blue. 

"good, how was work?" a piece of Travis's black hair was in his eye, and i was fighting the urge to swipe my hand through his hair.

"as good as it gets but," his expression went from normal to sad puppy eyes, "she was here today.. with a guy." Danny looked down. i didn't want to make things weird but Danny looked so sad so i rubbed his shoulder. he looked up at me and gave me a smile. i looked at Travis and he looked uneasy.

"man im sorry. look, you will find someone else, she didn't deserve you. i mean look what she did to your hair!" Travis grabbed a tuft of Danny's blonde hair.

since we were on the subject i decided to ask, "who did what to your hair?"

"my ex Melissa put something in my drink at a party and i blacked out and in the morning my hair was like this and my parents wont let me dye it back. it sucks i no, my hair is naturally dark brown." i got a tingling sensation when i imagined how adorable he would look with dark brown hair, and i accidentally let out a smile.

we sat there for at least two hours talking and laughing. with every minute me and Danny spent joking and laughing with each other Travis just got more uncomfortable. i felt bad because we were on a date together, but Danny was so funny and adorable. 

at eight me and Travis left the diner. "bye Danny, see ya man." 

"ill text you Danny, we have to hangout sometime." i gave him a sweet flirty smile and walked out the door. me and Travis were holding hands as we walked through the parking lot. "arn't we going to the car?" i asked.

"no, the desert place i want to take you is just down the road, and it's nice out." Travis smiled, and his smile always made me giggle. "so, did you like danny?"

"yea, he was awesome. he's like a gay best friend, except he's not gay, unlike you." i nudged his shoulder and he gave me a wink.

we walked down a cute little street full of boutiques, diners, and cute shoppes. we stopped in a flouriest shop and he bought me a rose. "you didn't have to get me a rose Travis."

"no, i had to. it reminds me of you because it is so beautiful." i tarted blushing and looked away. "oh hay, there's the chocolate shoppe." we stopped at a little place called 'passion' and went inside. it smelled like warm chocolate, flowers, sugar, and milk. everywhere i looked there was chocolate. 

Travis bought expensive chocolate called Noka chocolate. we walked back to his car and drove to a hillside overlooking the city. "this is my favorite place to go when i just want to think." he said.

"its beautiful." 

we spent an hour just snuggled up and staring at the city. we shared the chocolate and talked. at the end of the night he took me back to campus.

"well this is where we say goodbye." Travis looked devastated that he had to leave me.

"yea... well i'd better get going." i reached for the handle when he grabbed my arm. we looked into each others eyes, then his traveled down to my lips. he pulled me so close i could feel his breath. his lips lightly glazed mine. 

"EXCUSE ME? WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THAT CAR KATIE?" me and Travis both jumped and i even screamed. lenix's head was out the window of our room and she looked as if she was about to explode.

"hi lenix, i will be in soon, don't worry." lenix stared us down and closed the window.

"well ha ha you had better go." 

"I'm sorry about that, text me OK? i had fun." with that i got out of the car and walked to the door. i turned around and smiled at Travis but he was already gone. damn, i thought, that boy always disappears when i least expect it. 

i walked in the door and up the steps. when i got to our room the door was locked. "LENIX! let me in. com on!!" i heard shuffling and Amanda opened the door. 

"oh my god! Katie! who was that boy and why were you in his car!" Amanda's face was lit up with excitement as i entered the room.

"i'll tell you guys if you promise to tell no one!" both lenix and Amanda shook their heads. i knew lenix would put this fight behind us if it meant she got in on the gossip. 

we spent the whole night talking about the date and when i met Travis. when i went to sleep i heard my phone vibrate, it was from Travis:

'night babydoll, sleep tight, i miss you already, and i cant wait to go out again<3'

i think my heart skipped a beat when i read the text, and with that i fell asleep.
