"For the last time, Kinkajou, no, I will not play spin the bottle!" Moon hissed, hoping the others couldn't hear.
"Why?" Kinkajou demanded.
"That's for me to know and you to never find out," Moon answered. She walked outside on the porch before Kinkajou could protest. It was cold outside, but it felt good after the hot room they were supposed to be studying in.
A few minutes later, someone sat down next to her and she looked up in surprise. "Qibli?"
"I didn't want to play either," he said quietly.
"Okay." She didn't pry.
"Don't you wanna know why?"
"Not if you don't wanna tell me."
"Damn. I was hoping you'd ask, and I could make this big romantic confession. Fireworks. Confetti. The whole nine yards."
Her eyes widened. "Romantic?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Y-yeah. Cuz, well, it's weird but... I've never kissed anyone. And I kind of wanted you to be my first kiss."
"So you like me?"
"I love you," he blurted.
She searched his face for a second, making sure he wasn't lying, before leaning in and pressing her lips to his. He started a little, then kissed her back. It only lasted a second, but it felt like several forevers had passed.
"I love you, too," she whispered.
They sat on the deck for a little longer, then he turned around. "I think they're done with the game."
"Hey, Qibli, are you my boyfriend?" she asked, the words coming out jumbled and squished together in her haste to say them.
"Yes, if you want me to be."
"Yes. Also, by the way, you are my first kiss."
He grinned, kissed the tip of her nose, and then grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet. "Let's go in."
They walked in, hand in hand, and Kinkajou wasted no time in flipping out.
