TEN YEARS LATER

(Author's Pov)

"Mama, mama, I don't like these eggs."

"I don't like when my bacon touches the eggs, mummy."

"I don't like bacon anymore, mom... Or eggs."

"If you guys don't want it, I can have it."

The sound of her four children bickering occupied her ears as she huffed in frustration, tiredly placing her hands on her hips. It was a Saturday morning, meaning breakfast. Nearly every single Saturday morning went this exact same way.

Nina would wake up extra early in the morning in order to prepare breakfast for the children. She'd make sure it would be something they all liked, so it wouldn't result in complaining and whining. However, it was like they all teamed up and worked together so they could make every Saturday morning like this.

A struggle.

"Enough!" Nina yelled, no longer able to put up with it anymore. "I wake up extra early every single Saturday morning, need I remind you, one of the only two days I get to have off from work, to prepare you a nice breakfast and all of you decide it's time to complain!"

"Hey, I eat anything you make, mom." Her fifteen year old son, Andrew, interrupted.

"And you should know I don't like meat or any animal based products anymore." Her twelve year old daughter, Sierra, informed with a small frown. "I'm turning vegetarian... Maybe even vegan!"

Nina turned to face her two younger children, awaiting to hear their excuses.

"I just don't like bacon, mommy." Her six year old son, Bruno shared with a shrug. "It's my favorite animal... I can't eat it."

"But I can... Just not when the eggs touch it." Her eight year old daughter, Zeta, said with a slight grimace present on her face.

Huffing helplessly to herself, Nina took a seat around the dinning table that seated six. She placed her head in her hands and leaned her arms on the table for support, wondering if Saturday mornings would ever get better.

"Good morning, everyone." The familiar voice belonging to her husband suddenly rang in her ears, breaking the odd silence that had fallen in the presence of her children. "Breakfast smells delicious, sweetheart... What's wrong with everyone?"

"They're all annoying, Ma." Andrew replied, all whilst gathering his siblings plates and scrapping their untouched or barely touched food onto his plate. "You know, as always."

Justin's lips curled into a frown as his eyes glanced over the scene. It wasn't unusual for their four children to be picky about what they'd eat, exuding their oldest son who could eat just about anything and still be hungry for more. Andrew's only problem was that his appetite was never truly satisfied.

However, Lucas just found it surprising to find Nina looking so drained and tired. Almost as if she had given up. Normally, she'd be up and sorting out her children's complaints with a small smile on her face, no matter how annoyed or frustrated she'd be feeling. He couldn't help but frown in confusion at the odd sight.

"Well, what's the problem with today's breakfast?" Lucas decided to question, wanting to resolve the issue at hand that had clearly upset his wife.

"Nothing," Nina put her head up and answered before the children could start again. "I just messed up and muddled up everyone's likes and dislikes... It's my fault, really."

Lucas took a glance around the table which seated his family and noticed Andrew was now eating everyone's breakfast. "Okay, well, since Andrew is eating what was supposed to be your breakfast, what would the rest of you like?"
