(Nina's Pov)
Uncontrollable sobs left my lips as I tried to comprehend what on earth had just happened. I had to be hallucinating. I was probably drunk, after all my day spent around rich smelling liquor, it had finally gotten to me and now I was envisioning impossible things in this unconscious state.
I had not just come across Lucas - my Lucas after a good nine years, most certainty hadn't wept in his stronger, broader arms and definitely had not raised my hand up to slap him across the face.
It was impossible.
But the image of his handsome face, the familiarity of his hazel eyes once I looked into them deeply, the way the much missed nickname softly, hesitantly left his pink lips, the all so comforting arms that wrapped around me; drawing me closer towards his chest and, my hand which stung strongly from the slap that most definitely had happened.
It was all real. I wasn't imagining.
Blinking repeatedly, I silenced my sobs and wiped away my fallen tears. I couldn't do much to my racing heart, but I began taking deep breaths, hoping it would steady its pace. But I doubt that would work. Knowing that the boy I once loved with my entire heart and had such a heavy past with, was standing inside the building (which I would eventually have to return to) I knew my heart wouldn't be getting any sort of break today.
Before I could prepare myself for the sudden sound of the door being pushed open, I found myself spinning around and meeting eyes with the most handsome face I had ever come across. His hazel eyes were pained, confused, and shocked as they peered down at me. I could feel another awaited sob wanting to fall from my lips freely, not understanding how this was happening.
"Nina," Lucas softly called, his eyes trailing across the length of my entire face.
An unexpected scoff left me as I stared at him, wiping away yet another tear that had loosely fell from my eyes. "What do you want, Lucas?"
He was taken aback by words. I wasn't exactly sure why. He had to be stupid to forget what had last happened between us, because I most certainly remembered every last word and touch shared between us. Especially the deceiving promise he made to me before he left to wherever, which I naively believed and resent myself for doing so.
I could only my life which would have been so different now.
"I don't understand," He furrowed his brows, taking a small step towards me. "Why the anger? Aren't you happy to see me, laces? Like I am to see you? In-fact, this feels too good to be true."
"Don't call me that," I shook my head, feeling my body shiver and I wasn't really sure if it was from the cold air or his intense stare. "You lost the right to call me that the very second you lied to me."
"Lied to you?" He repeated with such confusion, it made me want to burst out laughing. Lucas had definitely progressed with his acting skills since I had last seen him. I could only bet he was a complete different person than he was nine years ago. My eyes done a quick glance over his appearance, noticing the most definitely designer suit, probably Armani and the glistening, diamond wrist watch wrapped around his wrist.
He had definitely changed.
"Don't act stupid, Lucas. Unless you've had a head injury over the past nine years, that somehow affected your memory, you know exactly what I'm talking about." I spat out, disbelieved at his convincing expression of confusion.
"Nina, I have no idea what you're talking about." He sounded frustrated, making me frown at the lie. "Tell me what lie I told you that's gotten you so upset."
