Myles

After coach blew the whistle to end practice I rushed into the locker room and checked the time on my phone.

2:33

I let out a string of curse words under my breath while running to the showers to freshen up.

I'm supposed to meet Harper at the doctors office at three, and I really don't want to be late.

After I finished my shower in record time, I quickly threw on underwear, and on top a pair of grey adidas sweatpants and a navy adidas t-shirt paired up with white adidas tennis shoes.

I rolled my eyes.

Totally not sponsored.

After I was done getting dressed I checked the time on my phone and saw that I still had about twenty minutes left to get there.

I rushed out of the locker room whilst my teammates gave me curious glances.

I hadn't told them about the baby yet. I don't really know how to if I'm being honest.

"Hey, remember Harper, that girl I went home with six weeks ago? Yeah well, we didn't use protection, so now she's knocked up."

Yeah no.

I guess when the time comes I'll tell them.

But for now I'm going five over the speed limit to get to the doctor's office but at the same time I'm not trying to end up in an accident.

When I make it to the hospital, I pull up just in time to see Harper walking up to the entrance.

I hurry and park my car in the closest spot I can find. When I'm finally parked I rush out of the car and meet Harper just as she was about to open the door.

She looked up at me with that breathtaking smile of hers. In return I give her my most genuine, sincere smile.

We then enter, no words needing to be exchanged. I loved how easy it was between us.

I looked down at her once more. "You look beautiful," I said, not dropping eye contact.

She blushed, tucking a piece of her chocolate brown hair behind her ear.

"Thank you," she said still looking down at the tiled floor.

We then made our way to the waiting room after checking in at the nurses station.

We sat there in comfortable silence. I could see Harper twiddling her fingers in her lap, a sure sign she was nervous.

Not thinking, I placed my hand over hers, interlacing our fingers together. Harper looked up at me, giving me a small smile, showing her gratitude.

I began rubbing small circles against the back of her hand with the pad of my thumb. She let out a sigh and without warning she leaned her head against my shoulder. At first I tensed up, but immediately relaxed into her touch.

"Are you nervous?" she asked me quietly.

"Yes," I replied. In truth I was terrified. I know there's no reason to be. It's not as if she was giving birth, or we were finding out the gender. Wait. We weren't finding out the gender were we?

"Hey Harper?" She hummed in response.

"We aren't finding out the gender are we?" I asked with a hint of worry.

Harper let out a soft chuckled. I was glad I could distract her for a moment.

"No it's too soon to find out the gender."
