Harper

Tonight was amazing.

It was magical.

Listening to Myles speak was like listening to my favorite song. I would listen to it on repeat time and time again, each time discovering something new to love about it.

As we ride in the elevator, comforting silence envelopes us. We stand so close, that our hands rub against one another.

As the elevator opens, Myles grabs my hand, pulling me towards the hallway.

I clear my throat, facing my body more towards Myles as I continue to walk towards my apartment door.

"Tonight was fun," I said squeezing his hand.

We continued to walk down the hall, "Yeah, it was great," he said smiling down at me.

Silence consumed us once more as we turned the corner. But what I saw stopped me completely.

There, sitting against my door, was Luke. The same guy that a little over two months ago, completely shattered me.

When he noticed Myles and I slowly approaching him, he quickly scrambled to his feet, running his fingers through his messy, curly, blond hair that sat on his head.

"Harper," he said in almost a whisper.

I could almost feel the confusion radiating off of Myles.

My jaw clenched and my eyes narrowed, "Luke," I said with a cold tone.

When I said his name I felt Myles' hand tense in mine, causing our hands to be brought into Luke's view.

I watched as Luke's eyes drifted towards our intertwined fingers. A scowl takes over his rugged face, his eyes then moving over my shoulder to Myles.

I turned my head to see Myles' face turned into a smirk as he watched Luke's anger unfold.

"Harper, I need to talk to you," Luke said, looking back at me, "alone."

Before I had a chance to respond, Myles did it for me.

"I don't think so man. You had your chance."

"Well to be fair, I wasn't asking you," Luke retaliated.

"Well to be fair, I think you should leave," Myles said stepping towards Luke.

I placed my hand against Myles' chest, stopping him from tackling Luke like the dummies at practice. He continued to glare at Luke for a moment until his eyes dropped down to mine.

I shook my head, "He's not worth it," I whispered quiet enough that only the two of us could hear.

From behind me, Luke cleared his throat, interrupting our little moment.

I turned around to face him, "Okay. Let's talk."

He smiled, but then smirked at Myles, "Hear that dude, she wants to talk. Scram," Luke says mockingly.

Myles released a deep sigh. Just as he was about to walk away I grabbed his hand in mine once more, "No. He stays," I said not breaking eye contact with Luke.

His smirk falls, but I put one on my own face. Myles' front was against my back and I could feel his body sag in relief. His hand gently caressed my hip, a sign of gratitude.
