Snake Season

Chapter 1: Morning

"Nathan it's time to wake up" Nathan wakes up and looks outside. 

"Mom is it going to rain?" the outdoor sky looks dark. Rain clouds spread for miles. 

"most likely, why?" he smiles and gets up already dressed and ready to go. 

"Because, rain makes everything better." he grabs his bag and goes to the bathroom to brush his teeth and his hair. He gives himself a wink in the mirror and races down the stairs. His younger sister is at the table already eating. 

"Morning Emma how did you sleep?" Emma looks at him. Her eyes looked heavy. 

"Like usual. Not well" his sister emma was short. Nathan and emma where close siblings. Emma was the on Nathan told everything too. Nathan was Emma's go to person as well. 

"hurry up and eat, im driving you to school Emma" Emma smiled and shoved the remaining cereal away quickly. Nathan laughed. 

"Did not expect you to take me literally but okay." Nathan laughed and headed outside. He got in his car and waited for Emma. The drive was peaceful. The rain tapped on the car as they continued on. Nathan dropped Emma off and went off to his school. They lived in a small town in Oklahoma. It was quiet. The only time everyone really panicked was when the tornados came around. Nathan got out of the car and ran inside. His friend Lance was waiting in the hall. 

"Hey dude, you're still coming over tonight right?" 

"I sure am, it is friday after all" nathan looked over to see if Alexis had arrived. Lance and alexis where nathan's closest friends they had been there since he started school. Alexis had red curly hair and leo had straight red hair. 

"Hey lexi, come here i have something to give you." Lance looked over at nathan. 

"you do?" 

"shut up dude I already told you about this" Alexis walked over. 

"What is is?" nathan pulled out a box. There was a necklace inside. It had a snake on it. 

"This is frost. that snake from that legend" Alexis smiled and put it on. the necklace matched her well. Frost was Alexis's favorite snake from the legend. Her skin was pure white and her eyes where a soft blue. 

"It's beautiful, I wish i could of met her" Alexis looked at Nathan. 

"it's time to go to history now" they all began to go to class. history was a fun class, Nathan liked it a lot. he felt like what he learnt would become important for the future. Lance liked history, but only when it was gory and disturbing, world wars and revolutions really made him tick, Alexis liked the stories that came from history. like the legend of the seasonal snakes. No one believes them, little did they know things would change for them very soon. Soon their beliefs will change entirely.
