After talking for a time, we meet Max Patel. A close friend to Dr. Grace Augustine, and the one who help the lead of the Avatar Program rasie me. I still don't know how I ended up getting here but, as Parker and the others put it; I was found at the wall of Hell's Gate. A side for the past; he decided it was time to go see Grace, who, conveniently was just coming out of her link unit.
"Who's got my goddamned cigarette?" She said as she was handed her smoke. Max gave the two males a 'sorry for this' smile as we went up to Grace.

"Grace, I would like you to meet Norm Spellmen and Ja-." Grace turned to us, her cigarette resting in between her pointer and middle finger, "Norm," she began, cutting Max off. "I hear great things about you. How's your Na'vi?" Norm grinned like he just got a mate from his clan, replying with; "May the all mother smiled upon our first meeting." Grace gave a curt nod. "Not too bad. You sound a little formal."
"I've studied for five years but, there is much to learn." Jake looked at them, not understanding what they where talking about.  I rolled my eyes slightly.
"Uh, Grace, this is Jake S--" Max began once again until Grace interrupted him once more.
"Yeah, yeah, I know who you are, and I don't need you. I need your brother. You know --- the PHD who trained three years for this mission?" Grace said, looking to Jake.
"He's dead. I know it's a big inconvenience to everyone." He replied bluntly.
"How much lab training have you had?" She asked him.
"I dissected a frog once." He replied with a grin. She looked pissed. Turning to Max, "You see? You see?! They're pissing on us without even the courtesy of calling it rain. I'm going to Selfridge." I went after her, "Grace, that's not a good idea!" I called as I heard Max say to the other two, "Here, tomorrow, oh eight hundred. Try to use big words." I trailed after Grace, trying to convince her not to see Parker.

It doesn't work. . .

"Parker, I used to think it was benign neglect, but now I see you're intentionally screwing us." Grace fumed. Parker just gave a know it all smile.
"Grace. You know I enjoy our little talks." I just watched from the frame of the door to the room. This most likely won't end well. "Parker," Grace began. "I need a research assistant, not some Jarhead dropout!"
"Actually, we got lucky with him." Parker responsed.
"Lucky? How is this in any way lucky?" I asked, looking to the administrator.
"Well, lucky your guy had a twin brother, and lucky the brother wasn't an oral hygienist or something. A Marine we can use. I'm assigning him to your team, as a security escort." I gave a groan. "The last thing we need is another tigger happy asshole out there!" Parker looked to me with surprised, rarely did I get pissed. And when I did, it wasn't pretty.
"Look, you're supposed to be winning the hearts and minds of the natives. Isn't that the whole point of your little puppet show? Look like them, talk like them than they'll trust you. And after --- how many years? --- relations with the indigenous are only getting worse." Grace glared at him, than glancing towards me, sorrow in her eyes as she knew what I was. "That tends to happen when you use machine guns on them." Parker looked to what sat on his desk, flicking it before holding it up in front of Grace's eyes.
"This is why we're here. Unobtainium. Because this little gray rock sells for twenty million a kilo. No other reason. This is what pays for the party. And, it's what pays for your science. Comprendo? Those savages are threatening our whole operation. We're on the brink of war and you're supposed to be finding a diplomatic solution. So, use what you've got and get me some results." Parker said.

Grace and I left Selfridge and went back to the others. My Na'vi ears twicth in annoyance I went to my bunk that me, Grace and Trudy share. Jake looked to Norm and Max,
"What is she?" He asked in bewilderment. Max and Norm looked to the girl that was leaving to her bunk. Than after awhile of slience, Max said;
"She's a Na'vi and Human hybrid."
