Destiny
To say I was nervous right now would be a complete understatement. Me and Sharese were on our way to Rashad's parent's house with the kids. When he initially asked us, I was excited until he told me that he just recently told them that he had children. I was pissed. How are you not going to keep your children a secret? It took so much bribing to make Sharese agree to come with me but at the last minute she finally agreed. She also explained to Raymond that Carmen and Charisma were his sisters and he took it quite well. Now he is inseparable from them.
"Please be on your best behavior." I said, looking over at Sharese. I know she was still mad about Rashad putting his hands on her but for today I just wanted peace.
"I will try. No promises though." Sharese said. I just shook my head preparing myself for any drama that may pop off today.
"Raymond are you ready to see your daddy?" I asked looking back at the handsome little boy.
He nodded his head yes. It took Sharese a lot on convincing but she finally got Raymond to believe that she and Rashad were just playing. I think he is still a little skeptical but he believes it because it came out of his mother's mouth.
When the car stopped I looked up to see a huge house. I thought my parents house was big but Rashad's parent's house had theirs beat by a long shot.
We got out the car and gathered the children so that we could go in. I had Carmen's car seat and Sharese had Charisma's while Raymond held the baby bag walking closely to Sharese. When we got to the door I rung the doorbell and waited on someone to answer. A woman, I'm presuming to be Rashad's mother answer the door. She had the same beautiful hazel eyes that Rashad had, that the kids inherited.
"Hello, come in come in." She said extending her arm so that we could walk into her home. She then led us into the living room where Rashad and who I am assuming was his father, were seated. They stood as we walked in.
"Ok, so let me see my grand babies." Rashad mother gushed, not being able to control her smile.
We placed the car seats on the couch and removed the blankets that were covering them from the sun which revealed a now awoke Carmen and Charisma, looking around at their surroundings.
"Oh my goodness they are so beautiful!" She said as she picked up Charisma who showed a gummy grin while reaching for her grandmother's hair. Charisma was most defiantly a hair puller which is why most of the time I keep my hair pulled back in a ponytail.
"Oh, where are my manners, I am Angela, and that is my husband Richard." Angela said as she reached down to hold Carmen as well. The woman was a pro. I thought she would struggle but she held each baby with ease. She took a seat on the couch as she held them, and then looked up at a scared Raymond.
"Hello, my handsome grandson. Can I get a hug?" She asked Raymond.
Raymond hugged Sharese leg tighter.
Sharese bent down to Raymond's level and said, "It's okay baby, she's not going to hurt you."
He released her leg and slowly walked over to Angela. She leaned down so he could give her a hug.
"You look just like Rashad did when he was your age." Angela said.
I forgot all about Rashad and his father being in the room. I looked over at them to see Rashad taking pictures with his phone and his father just standing there looking in awe.
After a hour, everyone had eased up a bit and we were talking like we had known each other for a long time. Richard was holding Carmen playing peek a boo, while Rashad held Charisma playing with her, and Angela sat talking with Raymond.
"Sharese he is so smart. You have done a great job bringing up my grandson." Angela said.
"Thank you very much Mrs. Angela." Sharese said with a smile on her face.
"I honestly thought I would not like you all and that you were only using my son for his money but from everything Rashad has told me, you both seem to have your head on straight. Sharese, I know you just told Rashad about his son, and while I do not agree with you waiting so long to tell him, I am happy that you raised him to be so respectful. Destiny, don't take this the wrong way but I thought you were most defiantly after my son for his money. I thought that after your brother started working for my company that you came up with the idea to get pregnant by my son. It wasn't until Rashad told me that you worked as a nurse and didn't use any money that he gave you on yourself that I knew you weren't the gold digger I thought you to be." Richard said.
In all honesty, I wanted to slap his ass. I mean damn, he could have found a nicer way to say what he just said. It took everything in me to not say anything smart back. I just gave him a small smile.
"Oh Richard, don't be rude. Destiny honey, I know you aren't a gold digger. Excuse my husband. His words may be harsh but he's coming from a loving place when he says it. He's just looking out for Rashad's best interest. Especially after that hoe Candice tried to put a baby on him. I never liked that girl." Angela said while holding a now sleep Raymond.
"What?" Sharese and I said in union.
Rashad sighed and started to tell us everything from leaving my house and going to the hospital, finding out he wasn't the father, to fighting and ending up in jail. By the end of his story I was speechless. Candice was most defiantly the most conniving bitch I ever met in my life.
After another hour, we finally decided it was time to go. The girls and Raymond were all sleep and we wanted to get them home. Before we left I saw Rashad pull Sharese to the side to talk to her. When we were in the car, I asked her what was that all about.
"He just apologized to me and thanked me for bringing Raymond. He also asked if he could get Raymond tomorrow so that can do some male bonding or whatever."
I nodded my head and listened to the radio for the rest of the ride home. That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
We successfully got the kids out of the car without waking them up. We walked up to my apartment door to find it slightly ajar. I pushed it open and walked in. The sight before me brought tears to my eyes. Everything I owned was ruined. My couch was cut to shreds. Pictures that were once on the wall were now on the floor broken in pieces. I walked in the kitchen and all of my food was pulled out of the cabinets and refrigerator and thrown on the floor and walls. In my bedroom, all of my clothes were ripped up as well as my comforter and mattress. The carpet was damp and the smell of urine was so strong I had to walk out of the room. I walked into my daughters room and the only thing out of place in there were two of their bears Rashad had bought for them. They were hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope around their neck. I just broke down crying.
Sharese placed her hand on my back and said," Who could have done this?"
